Geekbench is a good benchmark ?

In my opinion, there is no such thing as a good benchmark. All general benchmarks out there are designed to magnify any small changes such that the eventual number that you see gets pushed up/ down in an obvious way. You may find meaningful data only if you drill down on the details and results since not every test is meaningful to the way you use your computer.
Best way to gauge performance is to look at your own use case, and try and find the results that informs you on the improvement/ regression, so that you can make an informed decision to buy a piece of hardware.

Anyway, this is my opinion on most if not all benchmarks. I generally don't run any, and if I do, it is just to test stability or gauge how much power saved when undervolting, since benchmarks allow a consistent way to test.

Windows 11 security feature "Core Isolation" setting could affect the Intel CPU performance in terms of overclocking and under volting performance, especially for msi board

Think similar issues to Asus and GB M/Bs as well.
Also can't downgrade bios.

Wait for 13th Gen. Just around the corner. Pair it with a B660 board or Z690 board. Pointless to get Z790 or even the entry level new boards as they will cost more. 13th Gen also runs noticeably cooler.

hold for 13th gen if you wanna go intel. Just know it's a dead end board though, 14th gen need new board again. But should a huge performance bump to your 4790k.

I might plan to get the 13th gen and disable the e cores, depending on how well it performs without e cores. Not exactly looking for a powerhouse, but headroom needs to be reasonable.

By knowing someone with an ES 13900k plus independent reviews are all nonsense for me anyway since it only compares stock performance without any scaling.

nah 6ghz all core would need chiller. 5.7 all core is a more realistic outcome. But the main thing is that ring can be boosted to 48x-50x on 13th gen, with ecores on! That would allow a bit of performance increase.

Lower specced actually, retail units will be able to run higher speed and better bins.
