tl;dr The i9-13900K is an amazingly fast CPU. From zero to thermal throttling in 17 seconds (that's with a 360 AIO). :ROFLMAO:

There is something wrong with his testing. Out of the box default the board will set to PL2 max. I suspect he has unlocked 'Extreme Power Mode' which allows PL3 to be enabled which hit 350W which he has hit 353W. There is no way in hell any AIO is gonna cool 353W with that mode. That mode should only be used on a full proper custom loop. On a normal custom loop with PL2, the max temps are only 80 degrees for a stock 13900k running Cinebench R23.

thats not wrong, thats how intel has been benched by most reviewers since mce was a thing in 8th gen. if anything, it just means that 13900k is impractical for 99% of conventional diy builders, and most should look to the 13700k and below.

He was talking about just over 300W, roughly in line with what Tech Jesus got. (I skimmed both videos so maybe I missed something. So please feel free to correct me.)

Nothing to be corrected Bro. PL3 has to be set manually and only under conditions that your cooling system is up to it. It won't set to PL3=350W by default.

I doubt PL3 is the actual mode that is meant to be tested. They merely made PL1=PL2 which means max is 255W not 350W at PL3.

interesting, seems like intel has followed nvidia and offered optional extreme power consumption. hwu does out of the box testing though, so other than setting xmp and rebar they dont tweak other settings, so this might be the default setting for that motherboard he used.

Find it weird it sets to PL3 as those who have been testing even with latest bios prior to launch all is set to PL1=PL2 by default. PL3 has to be manually unlocked.

tech jesus says they tested it on a z690 (not z790) under "intel default guidance" and still did 300w @ 4:05:
perhaps last minute change to default bios settings?

Don't know man best to wait for other reviews to compare. AFAIK, Z690 does not have this option to enable PL3. Z790 until now, most are testing on defaults which is set to PL1=PL2. I could be wrong too but let's wait to see other reviews.

Yeap, they can't just tune in settings dependent on silicon lottery because not all chips are identical. So power scaling is the most basic form of lowering power draw without breaking anything.

Obviously it's not impressive as given the amount of e-cores they have used, I expected better efficiency than AMD when it comes to providing raw performance.

Honestly, this also goes to show how silly AMD is. If not for their dumbass thermal dissipation design zen 4 would be a more compelling option, what a waste. Intel one really is cannot cool due to the power load.

Anyway, easy skip for both :spin: .

For those who care about efficiency. As with everything i'll definitely only care about in game temps with manual tuning, and i'm pretty sure temps won't be an issue.

e-cores only good for multitasking background task, not multithreading workload. Stick to 5800X3D/ 13700k if you using it mostly for gaming.

If you need more real cores for real work get ryzen 7900 or 7950.

Spamming so much e-core is just dumb 🤣

i think 13600k should be viable, 13700k also 100c in all core workload so lol
