Why not just use all 3 x X60 outside the DB ?

Thanks xonix...aprolog is for not being clear...yes, the x3 Deco is used outside the DB box. 1st is connected to the living room Lan, 2nd in my kid’s room and 3rd in my study.

May I know where to find an expert to help with this. I renovated my place 3 years ago, laid lan ports in all the bedrooms, and living room. As the BD box is inside an metal door (don’t ask me why I agree), my Singtel supplied Modem Router is kept inside the DB Box. I’m on the regular 1 Gb Fibre plan.

Recently I upgraded to a Deco Router / Mesh in the house X60. So I basically ‘swap’ my router from the singtel supplied router (kept inside the dB box next to the ONT etc) to one of the Deco X60 unit. I also use the other 2 Deco X60 as mesh cover.

Equipment linked via lan, 2 laptop (1 work, 1 gaming) 1 desk top (gaming). SingTel Mio
Equipment connect to wifi: 1 laptop (work), Apple TV, Smart TV

IssueS: From Layman description and user experience.
1) Sometimes TV YouTube experience lag even if didn’t stream 4K. 1080p also can sometimes lag
2) Zoom call on lap top sometimes bad connection
3) IPad surfing takes long time to load pages

I wonder if I could upgrade my speed. I also wonder if I could sign up M1 or MR (like good reviews) just for my sons to play their games and leave the singtel for regular use. Possible to have 2 broadband plan? I saw that my ONT have 2 points...(I think it’s call ONT). The first box which receive the fibre cable from outside the house.

1gb is more than enough for what your doing, you could theoretically get 10gb but it wouldnt really make any difference.

If your 3x X60 devices are connected via wired backhaul using the LAN ports then there should be no problem with coverage... I assume you are using these devices in AP mode with wired backhaul, and still using the singtel device in the DB box as the router? Otherwise you could end up with a double nat setup which might cause problems.

I would recommend putting the apple tv and smart tv on wired ports if you can, since those devices don't move.

Singtel can have poor international routing, that shouldn't affect youtube but it might affect the zoom calls depending on who you're calling with. Poor connections could also be due to the other parties rather than you.

Is the ipad slower than other devices connected to the same wifi in the same area?

will using Mesh in AP mode be lousier compare to using 1 mesh as router and wired backhaul the rest to it? Does Mesh in AP still form a mesh network for seamless connection or does it actually give different SSID like a wifi extender? pardon my noob qns

Am currently on M1 500Mbps plan which works fine but kinda saw a new report released last month? that said M1 had the slowest speeds so was thinking if I should go for another ISP since my contract is ending in a month's time.

If not, was thinking of upgrading to the M1 1Gbps or GamePro 1Gbps plan (though not sure if the GamePro plan has any advantages over the normal 1Gbps plan? if I don't game much?)

Just go with M1 normal 1Gbps in this case. I believe you will get a free router like RT-AX55 or TP-Link Archer AX72. They may be okay for your usage already even though I prefer better ones myself.

All ISPs except Viewquest are good enough for most of the use cases. But I recommend M1 and Starhub for new users as they tick most of the points. More improtantly get a good wireless router or mesh solution. Use Ethernet connection when possible.

Would the Asus RT-AX3000 wifi router be Ok? I'm also assuming there are no notable differences between GamePro 1Gbps and the normal 1Gbps package?

It is better than the RT-AX55 as the main router as it supports 2x2 AX 160MHz (vs 2x2 AX 80MHz in RT-AX55) and it has 512MB RAM (vs 256MB in RT-AX55). Then you can use the RT-AX55 as a mesh node when needed.

Personally I am using RT-AX82U (4*4 AX 160MHz support) but I think RT-AX3000 (or TUF AX3000, or RT-AX58U) is good enough for most users.

erm...connection not very gd n stable especially for the room further back.

especially in my room when i need to use internet connection for my ps5, pc and tv plus phone .

I did set up a AP point in my room but seems not stable also...maybe the router too old is a ASUS RT-AC1200G+

Broadband plan is 1 gb with the default ST modem which i got like 4 yrs ago?

Viewquest got stability problem.

For your case, since you already have powerful routers, either M1 or Starhub is good. I will recommend M1 1Gbps plan and you can sell the RT-AX55 for about S$110.

Or you can choose to go with M1 500Mbps plan (without router).
