anyone was charged this open box fee?

Keyoke bro had a dust issue on his iPhone 11 Pro Max from Apple Store. He went back for a retail black box 1-1 exchange no questions asked.

I feel in your context, you should be given a full refund too for your 11 Pro without 25% restocking fees, as you’re giving them a chance to upsell a more expensive 11 Pro Max to you. Just top up the difference in price. Tell them politely your reason for the exchange i.e. screen too small etc. Eyes strain. Hands difficult to type messages.

But if you’re just returning your opened device without buying anything else, then it makes logic for a retail company to charge you that 25%.

They impose that clause to prevent handphone flippers. People who buy and try to sell off iPhones at higher than RRP. When market rate falls below RRP, all flippers then try to “cash back” from Apple.

+1. I feel it too, on mine. 11 Pro Max. Definitely when you start to mind count “one thousand and one, one thousand and two...”.

Previous XS Max and X also don’t take so long to power on.
I feel its just as long. Best is connect phone to charger. Strangely when its connected, you switch on the apple logo appear right away. Otherwise if you press and hold side button, quite a while for logo to appear.

So far i never heard of it. But just warn u first as t&c stated it though.

My case is a manufacturing defect, hence i managed to get it changed no questions asked

Like the bro above said, u are changing model maybe wont charge u, but if u go change color like one of the bro here want to do, the risk is there

Just came back from the Apple Store, manage to get a replacement Pro Max but it came with a white box, took awhile to replace as the technician couldn't see the display issue and he told me they would have to repair it instead of a replacement but I ask him if repair would take how long, he wasn't sure cause its a new phone so replacement parts are barely available.

So he had to talk to the manager to get a replacement, it was approved and told me my replacement was the last set they had for MG 512GB (lucky I guess?). Nevertheless no issues with the new unit.

Nah no reason has to be stated or mentioned. You can say any reason but ultimately, the system won’t capture it. So 25% in TnC is to protect themselves and also to warn consumers.

But it’s quite strange that the retail staff weren’t really mentioning/warning about that 25% fee. Chat support even told me that there’s no limit on how many times we can go and swap as long as it’s within the 14-day window.

I wonder what the specific clause is used for...

25% for those who buy more than 1 set?
