Tbh can't really tell the difference between pro max and xs max battery life, to me quite similar

Pro Max is ALOT more better than my old XS Max.

I don’t think you understand what that does. It stop charging to 80% until a set time.


Like say you constantly go to bed around 10 pm. Plugged into the charger and go sleep. It knows that you usually pick up your device around 7am.

It will stop charging as soon as it hits 80% that could be like midnight or so. To keep your device at that level as to not keep your battery in good condition.

Only when it is closer to your usual wake up time it will finish the charging. So your battery is not constantly at high charge which could cause battery to wear out faster.

It will not do this if your pattern of usage while charging is unpredictable. Like if you plug in and use your phone in bed all the tim or you sleep at very inconsistent timings usually those cases will not see this happening at all.

Bro. This one is an iOS 13 feature. Nothing to do with hardware. My iPhone X on iOS 13 beta also got the optimise charging.

There seems to be a bug on this feature on iOS 13.1.2. iOS 13.0 still works nicely.

Impossible. Even both are brand new batteries the Pro Max is way obvious being more lasting.

What I observed about my iPhone was that it is still charging when I wake up for work. Normally i won’t take the phone off the charger till I’m about to leave house for work, so probably the phone already knows my pattern and the time that I will take it off the charger hence it will only start charging the remaining 10-20% battery at the final 1-2hrs.

Maybe i'm not observant enough or my battery got problem??

Last charge midnight 12.30am, by 12pm noon time left around 67%.

Is this normal?

Your battery usually does not charge to 100% internally, the system will report 100% but it usually hovers around 96%+ internally.
(You can read more of this here.. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=871051 this is the best example of how most modern battery does charging now. Which is also why some people see 100% drop off so quickly. Esp on older batteries)

Optimized charging is to keep your battery not too fully charged for prolong duration which is also a reason that accelerate wearing out the battery. Phones already do it internally just optimized charging puts it at a lower value for a longer duration and only brings it back up to full just nice or slightly before you usually pick up your device.

So it should look like this for optimized charging on your battery graph.

And with a notification like this.

No gimmicks. It worked during iOS 13.0 Beta up till iOS 13.1.2.

Not 100%. It stops charging at 80% and will very slowly charge to 100% when not in use.

Is not the true tone causing the phone to turn yellow, rather is the OLED calibration. Even with true tone turn off, the phone display still looks warmer.

That’s true. Had my xs max and pro max side by side, both True Tone off but the pro max can see it’s still dam obvious yellowish.

Went to Color filter in accessibility, intensity all the way to 0, hue slightly above half.
