I have done side by side comparisons in e  Store. resolution wise both look similar to me. only big difference is e brightness. OLED is a lot brighter. of course it's ymmv as always.

Apple website says iPhone 11 does have 2x optical zoom. Correct me if I'm wrong

for iPhone 11 it says 2x optical zoom out (cos ultra wide angle)
iPhone 11 Pro it says 2x optical zoom in and out (cos tele + ultra wide angle)

For me it will be iPhone 11 no brainer. I will get iPhone 11 even it’s slightly pricier than xsmax.

Simple. Unless you really need that Tele lens, you should go for the iPhone 11.

In everyday use, both phones are as good. Apple has the best LCD display and you won’t notice a difference in that lower resolution display unless you compare both phones side by side.

I used to play down the observational difference between an OLED and LCD panel until recently when I got to play around a Note 10.

The deepness of the black colour is very obvious. I’ll definitely enjoy the stock Earth wallpaper on my next OLED iPhone.

Most consumer will just use the stock night mode which is convenient and easy to use. Only tech enthusiasts will try to use different softwares.

You can look out for Halide camera app. Probably the best camera app out there.
