Both units from diff telcos is kinda serious. It would be best if you can try to post some images. In the meantime pls bring them to apple Genius Bar for them to assess and check.

I could totally slide a piece of paper on it. The rest of the sides are completely intact, zero gaps. I’m worried it would affect water resistance. I got 2 units from different telco and they both have the same issue.

Hi guys. Went down to the apple store earlier to have my units check. Technician did acknowledge the defect I was referring to. Manage to get a replacement for both units.

That should be the way bro, we spend so much on our phones and having this kind of issue is not acceptable.

So from now, enjoy your new phones!

Actually there is still a slight gap with the new units but not that drastic. Maybe its a design flaw because of the new design squared edges. Plus I think the frame can’t totally sit flushed because of the mute and volume buttons. Did check a few display units at the store and saw the same gap at the same area.

Now that you've pointed that out.. I'm seeing a very slight gap along the volume and mute switch as well. But not so big until 1mm kind.

Edit: Actually don't have after I just checked with high power torchlight.. Perhaps was just a placebo effect upon reading your post lol. Glad you got your units replaced!

You can see the gap on a certain angle and lighting. If you look at it straight on you wouldn’t notice like i did at first. Anyways the issue maybe not that wide spread and affects a certain batch only.

I’m slightly surprised they just replaced the telco sets for you with no fuss.

Usually, they will ask where the phones came from and if it’s from the telco then you’ll have to go back to the telco to resolve.

I guess if the problem is exceptional then they can make an exception.

Maybe it’s certain batch. I double-checked mine and it’s fine. If I’m in your situation honestly I wouldn’t be too bothered by it unless it’s a little obvious.

Are you new? Once you step out of telco, any problem you have to go back to apple already.
Telco only can open 2 boxes for you to check on the spot, no more already.

I am also surprised. Telco set will never be repaired by Apple. Have to go back to telco service center

New to what? I’ve been an iPhone user for 10 years :spin: :spin:

That said, I had a personal experience with an iPhone 8 Plus that had a defect straight out of the box. The phone came from a Black Friday Robinsons sale. Naturally, I didn’t unbox to check on the spot.

I went back to Apple and they were shocked by the heavy scratch on the screen and couldn’t quite believe how it could have passed QC.

So my case changed multiple hands, went to several Apple Geniuses and after my repeated plea and arguments they finally decided to replace my display panel. It wasn’t a straight one to one replacement. They took in my phone to replace the screen instead.

That’s why from my experience, it ain’t that easy to get iPhones replaced if you don’t buy from them directly.

Perhaps it was the screen so they were reluctant since cosmetic issues are quite touchy and subjective.

Telco set going back to telco service center is like how long ago liao? I rmb this was the case during iPhone 3GS era ~ after that was going back to A Labs or QCD. Those were the nightmare times, super hard to talk sense with those ppl from A Labs. They are damn ignorant and like to argue with you, getting exchange from them is really a damn nightmare. :s22: Thank god now got direct Apple store to purchase from and get exchange/repair work done with.

I think I used iPhones longer than you, I've been a user of the iPhone since iPhone 3G until now.
AFAIK, from my understanding is, telco set if got problem, go back to apple directly now but instead of new set, is refurbished set. My friend went to exchange her iPhone 12 Pro as she has some issues with the phone, as her set was bought from Apple store directly, it was brand new retail set being exchanged within 14 days. I asked the Apple person as well about this, unless he/she is misinformed. I feel you, I bought iPhone 6+, out of the box, touchscreen failure, cannot even register any touch input, really DOA.
