This guy said the same thing about the camera.
He is a professional photographer
https://youtu.be/vvoHy4gTDtQ

He didn’t quite test it in the circumstances that will show the differences. In good lighting, computational photography is so good that you don’t see much

Low light photography will be better with the 12 PM

Always felt that the 11PM video is grainy in Low night. Will be much better with the 12 PM

I think you've missed the points
I'm talking about still shots image quality, not video.

The thing is Apple claim The wide camera on the iPhone 12 Pro Max features a 47% larger sensor than on the iPhone 12 Pro, with 1.7μm pixels. Apple says that this difference in sensor size makes for a whopping 87% improvement in low-light conditions..
This is not true at all based on the real life sample shots.

Apple also claim 2x optical zoom is tele lens which is utter nonsense. 2x is equivalent to 50mm. Telephoto lens actually start at 4x optical zoom (~85mm)

Apple marketing BS strike again 🤣🤣

the 87% improvement is over the 11pm, but probably exaggerated.

Technically, 12pro and 11pro are using the same sensor. This never change until 12pro max.

In case you got BS by apple and noob influencer claiming the ip12 Pro max is the low light king, the 3 years old Huawei phone camera sensor actually capture better low light shots than iPhone 12 Pro Max

https://youtu.be/TaCT2u4cYtY
The guy use p30pro but the sensor is the same as p20pro.

Low light, video taking, the 12pro max still have the edge over the 12pro/12.

So if you are deciding between 12pro and 12pro max and camera is one of the main reason why you are getting the 12 series, then the 12pro max is the obvious choice. The diff is really there if u compare side by side with a 12pro.

That is, if you have a 12pro to always compare side by side. Else, i believe you won't notice that diff even with the 12pro.

It is the low light king among all the iphones. No?

People buy that because it's a iphone, not a android. If they want a android, they won't be considering the iphone.

I'm just sharing camera image quality info.
Why want to mention android phone?
I'm not even talking about operating system.

IPhone 12 pro max camera is good but claiming the camera sensor is low light king is exaggerated at best.

If OS is not an issue, then you should get Huawei.

i disagree. why cannot claim king? they did not claim they are the king of kings. there can be many kings, u know, english king, french king, german king etc? if they claim they are the emperor, then maybe too much, cos from history, there is only 1 emperor in the same period.

haha.... relax lah... u support other brands, then coming to this thread will only make u angry. stay happy.

OK la I rest my case here.
Didn't know sharing general facts are not allowed here.

FYI, I'm using both IOS and Android devices.

Anyone still experiencing hangs and unexpected shutdowns in the apps?

Having problems with WeChat, Shopee, lazada, Taobao......

Is it because they are China companies hahah

Factually speaking, the camera in the PM is the best out of this year’s iPhone lineup. The clear difference is in low-light photography, and even then that’s if you’re pixel-peeping. Otherwise tbh, you can kind of get by with the optics on the Pro.

Not gonna get into Android comparisons, that just complicates things

Oh one other thing to consider is that this is a chonky boi. Like almost stupidly big. I’ve always thought that iOS has made poor use of the increased screen space and it’s really apparent here. Rows and rows of icons and more icons bleh. Widget development on iOS is still in its infancy so things should get better on that front. But yeah. Huge phone. For that reason I think the Mini might sell better. People don’t want phones getting bigger and bigger, but I think there’s a market for an iPhone that you can use one-handed. Yes it’s got a small battery, but it’s all about managing expectations.

Aiya if were to compare like that, Android to iOS, Samsung Huawei to Apple, iPhone confirm lose.

But many will still go for the iPhone. Why? Because it works, and works well. Everything comes together perfectly. They may not be the first in anything, but they do it the best.

I think the camera comparison is a subjective argument. It is even more so if you compare between different brands.

In other words, people might prefer the picture colours on a Samsung phone over iPhone or vice versa.

I don’t know about the folks here but I’m getting the 12 Pro Max over the 12 Pro because of the bigger screen and not because of the better camera.

Ohh and I love the return of the flat sides/edges design!

I know. But that is a 2019 video you shared there. So it is best if it can appear with the 12pro max and do a side by side comparison. I believe many will be posting their videos online soon.

I won't call it as king but it's def one of the best low light camera out there now.
