On iPhone use iCloud photo backup lah. No fuss no muss. I still have Goog Photos installed but that’s just to reference the old pics.

5G isn’t an issue for me because M1 only has 5G running in town and central /rolleyes. Heartland areas no 5G, will prolly just knock the data setting down to LTE and leave it at that

There was a history about this. Heic is smaller than jpg. Google photo used to backup heic even you use unlimited free storage. Android users start to kp and google then convert heic to jpg which is bigger. Now if you backup to google photo and restore back to iPhone, it occupied more storage space because it becomes jpg

Yeah I'm aware of this so called bug lol. Heic doesn't get compressed by Google even when it's supposed to compress if you selected the unlimited storage option. But wasn't following the news after that. So now heic still gets compressed to jpg now.

Need to pay

It uses your drive space

Pay lah

It's only $40 for 200GB a year

And it's only for pictures above 16MP, I have tens of thousands of overseas pictures saved on Google Photos as original and only around 50GB is used

Guess only those 4K videos actually eat it(since free unlimited storage is up to 16MP and 1080p)

Battery capacity have been reduced because of the internal Magsafe coil. That takes up a bit of thickness and you know... Apple wouldn't want to edge towards a 8.5mm thick phone, especially in a squared off design.
In other words, form over function for this particular aspect.

Cutting down batt size is to save cost. Smaller cap batt means cheaper to source

Now can understand why they left out the 120hz refresh . Or else really is half day battery life Liao. Also don’t dun understand why they reduced the battery size of the ip12, is the 5G module really taking up so much space ?

What kind of issues with iCloud are you having?

I have iCloud #1 which I want to keep all photos on and it's linked to family iPads. I had iCloud#2 linked to iPhone 6s. Want to transfer and consolidate all photos to iCloud 1. Tried a few ways but all failed so far (set up new iPhone as clone of iphone12, downloaded ip6 photos to comp but suay cannot download iCloud on pc to sync - ms shop error, tried to sync photos to new ip12 also cant) my next step is to buy a new extwrnal SSD and try the same steps with my home laptop next.

Ya so you can say suay or user issues but it's been a hassle

Nothing to do with Magsafe, the magnets are almost paper thin.

Instead it's the PCB that almost doubled in size thanks to the addition of 5G. Just look at the Xray shots comparing 11 Pro and 12 Pro from ifixit, even the SIM tray had to be pushed all the way down:

Try to send all the pics on 6s via airdrop to one of the iPads logged in with iCloud #1. Then those pics will automatically upload to iCloud #1. But I'm not sure if the date will be messed up ie actual photo taken date or photo received via airdrop date.

Or

Logout iCloud#2 from 6s, choose to save and not remove anything from 6s. Your photos on iCloud#2 will remain. Then login to iCloud #1 on 6s, photos on 6s will be automatically uploaded to iCloud #1 and sync to all ipads logged in with the same iCloud#1.

Edit: before doing anything, please backup your devices first esp 6s

guys just a thought on my mind. Now are mostly wearing mask right so the face ID might not work well as before covid where we dont need to wear mask? But iPhone 12 series seems like no touch ID. Does it matter to you all?

Register normal Face ID as normal. Then register alt Face ID with 1/2 mask. Then use a while and wait for machine learning to recognise your face better. For 1/2 mask, use cloth mask instead of disposable mask

I’m using passcode authentication outdoors. When you’ve got a line of people behind you waiting to scan SafeEntry, you can’t afford to be dicking around with FaceID just to get into your phone
