I thought so too. But based on the YouTube reviews the screen is more scratch resistant too.

Anyway all glass scratch so I always make sure I protect it from day one. Currently using tempered glass on front and waiting for hydrogel for sides and back (with case now).

For pro models, cases doesn’t prevent scratches at the sides, might be better if it comes with microfibre within the case though
Dave Lee screen already got scratch so I do not think it is more scratch resistant. The increase in durability mean there is a decrease in scratch resistant. Please paste a screen protector or a glass on the iPhone 12.

This is quite worrying for us as consumers. Crapple decides to make life hard for consumers to use their products after end of product life. I might want to move back to Android after 12 mini.

then why their phones get 5yrs of update?

Just because it is scratched doesn’t mean it is worse off than the previous screen.

Unless it is made of diamond, everything scratches.

“ Zack Nelson today shared his much-anticipated iPhone 12 Pro durability test on his YouTube channel JerryRigEverything, and based on the Mohs hardness scale, he found that the device's display is "still scratching at a level six, with deeper grooves at a level seven," in line with dozens of other smartphones he has tested over the years.

Nelson did find that the scratches with the level six Mohs pick appear to be slightly fainter compared to previous iPhones, but there is no dramatic improvement.”

So there is slight improvement, but nothing to shout about. But no, it is not worse than previous screens

Probably because most of the time these micro scratches doesn’t affect the usability when the user turns on the screen :s11:

I mean. If you crack the screen, there’s this chance you’ll never be able to use it until the screen gets replaced.

But if it’s just micro scratches which doesn’t get in the way when the device is turned on. I personally think better shatter proof is more important :s11:

Also, if the videos on youtube are anything to go by, this gen's screen became more shatter resistant AND scratch resistant. Scratches are still bound to appear. Either go naked accepting it or slap a screen protector knowing the screen won't shatter as easily.

I think every year is the same. Just use screen protector and case despite what they say

Just got to hands on the iPhone 12/12pro. Hats off to those coming from previous bigger screen phones. The gold I saw, a lot of scratches at the bottom, screen also have many micro scratches. End up the phone doesn’t feel so premium anymore. The normal 12 was good thou. The matte frame feels very good and this phone is very light.

That's why I told you guys the confusion between keeping either the ip12 or ip12 pro.. lol
