I got my $6.90 lightning cable. Cheap and good and works well. Can also sync as well. Now got chiong cable in the car and office for charging while the home cable is the original one that comes with the phone.

Where to get the cable for charging in the car ?

This one is Generation 1 cable, fat head. Generation 2 cable is 1:1 to the original.

I searched Qoo10 but found all the reviews saying that the plastic portion tend to come out easily...

Think really needa wait 1 mth for more stable versions.. lol

any place to get gen 2 cables?

taobao has it. Some Qoo10 sellers say they have the gen 2 but reviews say that the plastic portion comes out easily when they pull out the cable. Only consolation is that it works.. haha

Plan to get lightning cable from here . Claim that they do almost perfection to the original ones. I e-mail them to ask what the price currency stated on their website...zzZZZz its USD.....I did my calculation, I would rather go for the original one from Apple rather than there. Just few dollars different

just received the 1 i bought from qoo10 (gmarket)

$6.20, able to charge and sync.

the seller just lowered the price to $4.20 lol.

i wonder why still so many sellers in marketplaces price their lighting cable at $10 and above lol

I just received mine, almost 100% identical except for the length of lightning port.

there is also a difference in the lightning port connector between third party/replica and original, third party ones are not one full head piece by itself as compared to the original.

For you thats using the 3rd party lightning cable,
Any issue with your battery after charging? My iphone battery life seems become worst.
Charge 100% before sleeping, after wake up becomes 68%
normally dropped around 8% only
Anyone facing same issue?

Best is still to buy the original lightning cable. Cheaper versions of it from online is lousier quality and the charging efficiency is lower as well. Meaning u waste more time and electricity to charge the same battery.

that 8% (when idle ??? ) drop u normally experience can be reduced by censoring apps on the "Location Services" and "Notifications" settings under the General Settings area
also do remember to kill multi-taskings ...

just saying, in case u haven't done so ....

No problem at all. The socket I use is orginial from the box though.. That is the thing that actually regulates the power. The cable is just a 'pipeline' with a chip at the end. Read that somewhere.. Any experts, pls correct me if I'm wrong.

You are right the "socket" is the power brick that converts our 230VAC to 5VDC. The cable is usually a passive item but for lightning cable there's a chip in it (at the phone end). A faulty chip might cause some charging issue but not likely.
