Manage to trouble-shoot abit.... Narrow down either cable or phone charging point problem ... Cause used PC and plug also not charging... Seow Liao..... My batt 49% left

if you use your AC apple charger and PC USB and still cannot work, then likely it's your lightning cable since car charger also cannot work with lightning cable. Hopefully a new lightning cable works, if not, your phone connector or some other more serious issue prevents charging altogether.

tat is how the china people get rich.

unauthorized vendors pay a sum of money to authorized vendors.

unauthorized vendors then mass manufacture millions to sell at cheap rate.

both parties get rich! then they start to buy properties in many countries

They actually have 2 different part nos. Apple iPhone 3/4 USB Power Adapter is A1299. iPhone 5 USB Power Adapter is A1399. However, both have the same output as 5V, 1A, so they should be fine.

iPad adapter output is rated at 5.1V, 2.1A. To put simply, more juice, charge faster. :)

Thanks Suleyman!

Do you know whether the chip is for regulating current, voltage and waltage? If not, no worry... You shall not use third party deaktop charger or notebook USB or third party car charger to be safe..the likely cause of short circuit or burnt is usually charger and not wiring cable

I read, one postulates that the chip is for knowing which way u put the cable in.
The pins are rendered useless until plugged in.
The pins activate the "correct" way depending on how u plug it in.

edit: if it works this way, placing the wrong signal to the wrong pin incorrectly is by far the most detrimental.

The other more telling point is that there are reports that the chips will dynamically assign the pins based on the device that is connected. Which opens the possibility that the dynamic reassignment of pins are also device-dependent, not merely orientation-dependent.

But I believe the voltage pins appear to be fixed to 1,2,3,8 - given the pin schematic diagrams that are circulating. I guess if all people want are charge cables on the go without using them to sync, 3rd party cables would probably have nailed it.

That all said, $28 is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

USB chargers work fine. The smart chips are inside the cable itself.

Does anyone know where I can get a few iPhone 5 Lightning Cables? I've tried a few Epi Centre & iStudio but they told me 2-3 weeks. Need them desperately.

Today I tried a few Nubox and some staffs there confirmed me that Nubox islandwide doesn't have stock.
I've called Yishun Northpoint Challenger and they said they also don't have any.

I have tried EpiCentre at ION, Takashimaya and Somerset313(actually they share one call center at ION) and they said they don't have any.

bad news but it doesn't seem we can buy any more offline..

My car charger works with my original lightning cable as well. No issues. And it's actually a usb car charger for my jawbone handsfree.

This will work as long it is the original lightning cable, not the usb charger itself.

Now is whether 3rd party cable will work anot.

when you buy a new cable, there is some information attached regarding warranty. I didn't read it, just threw it away. keep your receipt and go back to the shop or apple if there is an issue.

Whether the chip will determine whether iDevice is compatiable or not compatiable for power charging and data syncing. We will know in 1 to 3 months times as the third party ligthning cables will be available in local market then.. And we see many reviews them for cables purchased in GMarket, Toypost, etc..
