Have finally decided to offload my Max for the XR. After having both of them for several days, I really couldn’t discern the difference in screen quality between both of them. In fact I feel more comfortable looking at the XR’s LCD as I’ve realised my eyesight is deteriorating with the OLED. Albeit having true deep blacks on the OLED, I’ve noticed that most webpages have white colour background instead, giving the LCD an edge with cooler whites.

Given how similar they both are, just couldn’t justify paying the premium over the XR for the Max. Is there anyone else on the same boat? Cheers! :)

I'm still holding on to my Xs Max. Wanted to switch but I can discern the text clearly. The Xr is jagged. I read a lot of text. Even in Mail and Safari it's noticeable.

Secondly the sound quality of the Xs Max is richer and louder.

I don't think I can downgrade now after using the Xs Max for awhile.

But maybe it's because I'm pedantic than the average person. But the Xr is very attractive and much better size than the Xs Max.

It really depends what you are looking for.

Display is very subjective. You have to see for yourself. However don’t forget iPad Pro is only 264ppi.

The viewing distance of ipad than iphone is different, maybe that why 264ppi looks okay

In fact a lot of YouTube reviews on xr.

All suggesting that they are very impressed with it.
Most recommend xr over xs max.

But i guess not much are upgrading as iphone 7 and above still running perfectly well

XR bezel is certainly thicker and by putting it into a case, it will make the bezel looks event thicker. However, if you want something cheaper with the same level of performance and long lasting battery, you won’t go wrong with the XR.

When I first use X I also feel the bezel thick. After a while you kind of forget

iPhone X has thick bezels...? Are you serious about this? If the bezels on the X are "thick", then all of the iPhones before the X must have got giant bezels.

Because you kind of expect there should be no bezel at all

Totally bezel-less is almost impossible at the moment. But after using X and XS Max for a while, you would’ve hope that the bezel can go even thinner.

I believe next year iPhone will have even thinner bezel. 0.1mm makes a difference too.

IMHO Maybe perception also plays a part - the color also enhances the bezel? I feel red makes the bezel look even thicker maybe due to the contrast against black. Not so with blue. But when I look at red, it's very apparent.
