anyone got bring to apple store and request for exchange?

Highly they will do a 1 to 1 exchange if it’s iOS 12 bug.

but some max owners dun encounter this while others does? can't be they're not on ios12?
so it;s related to the phone isn't it?

it's not just iphone xs, experienced this with iphone 8 plus(red) ios 12.
left the phone idle overnight without charging, wake up this morning to plug in the charger.
notification showed usb accessory not supported, waked up the device and started to charge.

update:
after an hour opened the phone and saw that it wasn't charging at all, instead battery went down a few percent.
had to unlock to proceed with the actual charging.

different combination of settings will product different computational values at software level.

I personally didn't encounter this but on my updated iPad pro instead. however, it was just one-off.

I believe this bug is more random than fixated on one/several combination of settings..

You guys know that this is a feature that Apple added in right?

The setting is enabled by default where if your phone is lock, the lightning port on the iPhone is disabled by default till you unlock it.

This is to circumvent the brute force pass code decoder that law enforcement agency is using.

If it is IOS bug then for sure they will not do a 1-1 exchange. 1-1 exchange will be more of hardware issue not software.
IOS bug they just need to come up with new firmware 12.0.1 or 12.1 dude.

So now you're suggesting we should all enable "usb accessories" so that we can charge peacefully and expose our devices to all sorts of USB accessories thereafter?

Its clearly that the new usb safe mode implemented might have a bug when used with other settings. it should be left off for users not using any usb accessories, let alone for the purpose of charging the phone.

Firstly yes, secondly you obviously dunno much about that feature to even say something like that.

Suggest you go read up on what that “Enable USB Accessories” feature is and read back what you just said.

How do you propose then should Apple determine if someone is using or not using a USB accessories? Psychic powers? It should be disabled by default till the first time the user plug in a USB cable then you prompt the user if they want to switch that setting on?

If it was disabled by default and just nice the first time a Law enforcement officer plug in the decryptor, then he would be able to unlock the phone.

Do you even know why Apple put this setting in in the first place?

the feature is there since 11.4.1, and the issue only starting to circulate on xs max first, followed by xs. it wasn't explicitly on X.

Therefore shouldn't be this that is causing an issue unless there is something to do with the code for Xs hardware.

I definitely agree that it's more XS related although I'm not surprised. Seems like the Apple software engineers went a lazy route and turned it off literally.

But I do wonder what Apple would say, considering that already have such a clause on their website.

anyway, are you guys using the 5W charger? i'm using the usb PD charger, didn't have this issue, but just once and i just needa replug that's all..

I believe I have one of the 100% working sets. Been trying to replicate this issue by letting the phone go for long >30min standby and testing an assortment of chargers and cables, MFi or not, all work.

Need feedback from others who may have the phones exhibiting the issue.

i only kena when i use powerbank...even my gf ip xs kena the same when charging powerbank...
