Only if powerbank too... gotta disconnect the cable from the powerbank end then connect again then it charges. Other than that I dont have this issue.

I have the accessory not supported message if I plugged without unlocking the phone. On iOS12 iphone7+

If it's an new security feature related to lightning port, I guess we will have to change the way phones are charged. But in the YouTube there are several XSs that can't be charged even after unlocked. There is one that can't be turned on. Those I feel are another set of issues especially when the results varies.

It doesn't charge if u plug in the cable (orginal charger and cable) after the phone goes to sleep >20sec

Went to apple store orchard. They took out 3 new set, all 3 new set have the same issue and they cant figure out why. Therefor decided to keep my orginal set. Will see how things goes.

Hope iOS 12.1 will solve it, else I'll request for a full refund if it's not solved by then.


PS: my iPhone X and iPad pro 10.5" running iOS12 don't have this issue. So I believe it's only affecting the newer model.

Do you mean trying to turn off "Tap to Wake" under Accessibility ?

Will give that a try tonight when I'm home as I didn't bring my charger out today.


Wireless charging works perfectly for me too. Issue only appear when using the lighting cable. I also notice this issue is very random. Sometimes taping the screen will start charging. Sometimes it doesnt even start charging after taping and unlocking the phone. Need to unplug/plug before charging start. Sometimes after a hard reset and the phone sleep >20sec plug in the cable it will charge.

I’m sure everyone having the same issue just that they haven’t experienced it yet or using wireless charging. Else those 3 set I tested at Apple shouldn’t have the same issue. Unless I’m so sway. Or could be a batch issue. Maybe we should start sharing the serial number to see which batch having this issue
