I am happy to say the Scooba is awesome. Never have my floors been so clean! The battery life is non-issue, on 2nd charge outlast my Roomba 380 which gets me worried about my Roomba battery life. Surely the Roomba 380 is suppose to outrun the Scooba 330?

Try 2 tank with the same battery. It is not the time that the battery run per mission that determine yr 330 outruns the 380. 380 batt can last longer per charge as it is of higher capacity. The amount of water also plays a part in the run time.

Anyone can share about the pros and cons about the washing solutions for Scooba with us?

- Clorex
- Natural Enzyme formula
- White Vinegar+water
- Plain Water

The best is Clorex? Good to use White Vinegar? Or 3rd party like the magic clean?

Hi,
The battery capacity of 330 & 380 got difference?

Coz saw my friend's 380 is 4100mAh rating, the new 330 is also given 4100mAh battery..

Yes, by right Scooba 330 comes with 3000mAh light blue battery, Scooba 380 comes with 4100mAh battery (used to be grey casing but iRobot standardize to blue casing recently).

This current batch of Scooba 330 comes with 4100mAh battery, probably cos iRobot ceased production of 3000mAh light blue battery, either to close production line or cos contract with supplier ended.

I commented abt recent iRobot changes on 21-09-2010, 10:28 AM, u can read more from there.

I believe Zanter meant Scooba 380, and not Roomba 380 cos there's no such model. What he meant to say is his new Scooba 330 outlast his old Scooba 380.
Zanter, nothing to do with model, ur older 380 battery will naturally deliver less runtime compared to a brand new battery.

My bad. I meant the Scooba 330 outlast my 1 month old Roomba 580 in run time. My Scooba 330(with 4100mah batt) can run almost 1 hr, the Roomba 580 last 45min before going back to dock. The Roomba moves faster naturally.

On 22-09-2010, 11:10 AM, I posted some info on alt cleaning solution in response to ashley21's Qs. U can read from there.

Obviously using Clorox Scooba Solution, or Scooba Natural Enzyme formula gives u that "Oh... I'm so original & like to pay thru my nose for proprietary stuff" feeling, but at 50 cts per Scooba tank to clean say 400 sq ft, it's not very sustainable long-term.

So my recommendation is Kiwi Kleen (NOT the Oxy Force one). ~$5.50 for 3L, u can frickin use for ~100 Scooba tanks, making it only 5.5 cts per Scooba tank.

Don't use vinegar on marble, sure... it'll shine initially, but later micro pores will develop on the marble as the vinegar eats in.:s16:

Scooba 330 with 4100mAh battery will last ~100 mins (2 tanks).

There's no reason why ur 1 mth old Roomba 580 deliver 45 mins only, its 2200mAh battery should last ~95 mins, so the 45 mins go back to dock thingy is cos u confined it to a medium size area, Roomba feels its work is done, so it goes home with still lotsa battery runtime remaining. Roomba determines how long to clean based on area.

EXCEPT for those Roomba models with Lighthouse, and toggled to Lighthouse mode (rather than Virtual Wall mode).
A Roomba confined by Lighthouse becomes time-based (25 mins or 35 mins depending on firmware version), much like a worker who needs to clock minimum work-time before can punch out.

Haha Thanks, I didnt know Roomba is so smart
I know this forum is pro-iRobot, so I don't suppose some Samsung spies or Asus spies or Cleanmate QQ spies will be here.

iRobot makes war-zone robots (not the Terminator type, or maybe... nah!) & space exploration robots.

Their AWARE technology lets Roomba adapt to real-life situation, like accidentally mounting ur standing fan, entering a super-tight corner & regretfully struggle to exit, tangling cables or rugs & encountering extra dirty area.

Competitors criticise Roomba's seemingly random cleaning pattern, as compared to Neato's slow & calculated laser-turret scanner single-pass pattern
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZaqD2j3w4w

Korean's Ottoro has Stereoscopic camera (ie. like human eyes can tell depth thru images processed by brain). I think it's the robot that literally extends an arm to catch spider in a corner.

LG Roboking uses Li-Po (Lithium-Polymer), an ultra high energy-to-wt ratio battery. Imagine something like a Kit Kat bar can replace Roomba's chunky battery. But Li-Po is very ex, and u can watch >1000 deg C fireworks if it becomes unstable.

Frankly, there are many variation of vacuum robots, but iRobot wins in practicality & ease of self-repair thru their warranty-based modular replacement.

It is equivalent to the 530 as it also comes with a 1800mAh Nicd battery which states to clean 3 rooms.
