Hi all,

I just received my Roomba 560, got my in-law to help me bring in it from the states. Got a few questions after the first run:

1) The robot only managed to clean for around 1hour before it had to go back and charge, that only took care of half my living room and kitchen. My place is not big, only 100m2, the robot kept cleaning the same places.. Is there anything I should do to get it to move to other places in my house before it needs to recharge? I thought about using the virtual walls but need to shift it on daily basis if I were to use them. Thinking if there is a more convenient way..

2) Is the roomba 560 compatible with lighthouses? Any of the dealers, uno_bliss, Juboo sells the lighthouse if compatible with 560?

3) I notice the roomba actually bumps into some spots aka bumper car like that.. :) Are there any recommended ways to bump proof the robot?

Thanks in advance to experts!
Cheers..

bro, you are so cute.
u should find out the facts first before making these wild guesses and imaginations. :s13:=:p
these robots are not like other household products which can be refurbished easily as these guys run around all over the places and knock everywhere. hence, there will scratches and dusts etc.
and, you could also register at iRobot webbie and see if they give you warranty(1 year for brand new and 90 days for remanufactured). :s13:

@mkaung, i do check on facts before stating it here.
I am pointing out one glaring fact that in the website, autovacstore stated that they do not supply charger for use in Singapore. I mean what the heck, it is like you are selling a new handphone and not giving the charger to the buyer ???

Why the heck does a seller even do that ? Don't you smell something fishy here?

plates , brushes and other worn-accessories can be changed. Unsuspecting buyers will not be able to tell the difference.

Best of all, Autovacstore is not even here to defend himself.

I just want to do my part and point this out in case some forum readers wanted to buy from them, and hope they will think twice now.

Is there a way to tell the brand new from the remafacutured? On the box or unit itself?

ok, after some googling, i found the differences...the remanufacured is branded with "R" the unit itself and the packaging box is also different with "Remanufactured" printed...think iRobot also not stupid enuff to think consumer stupid enuff to buy those remanufactured as brand new...
Here's photos by me of actual products I'm selling.
Remanufactured box: http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee451/uno_bliss/Roomba56199_1.jpg
Remanufactured Inside box & layout: http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee451/uno_bliss/Roomba56199ng_2.jpg

Brand new retail box: http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee451/uno_bliss/Roomba560id_1.jpg
Brand new retail box back view: http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee451/uno_bliss/Roomba560id_2.jpg
Brand new retail box side views: http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee451/uno_bliss/Roomba560id_3.jpg

There is no "R" printed on Remanufactured Roomba 500 series, but iRobot has polished-off the printed model code (eg. 531, 551, 561) on the bottom plate left wheel area.
For Roomba 400 series, a letter "R" is burnt into the bottom near battery insert.

Serial no. sticker under tail of Roomba 500 series would also indicate whether Remanufactured or Brand new. Those beginning PRR are Remanufactured.
ALL official iRobot Remanufactured will have this Serial no. sticker, so if sticker is missing, then the seller must have done something "funky" & wanna hide something.

For buyers, who bought iRobot from re-seller locally, u might wanna go iRobot.com to test if ur Serial no. is still valid & never been registered before by ur re-seller.
Who knows... maybe ur seller has been using ur Serial no. to claim US iRobot warranty & get free replacement stuff from US iRobot, then make money by selling these free replacement stuff.

When u next see Autovacstore here posting, he'll wipe ur memory with fantastic bribes like "Just quote coupon 'jacktcc70 is wrong' to get $100 discount", or go Facebook & post 50 "Likes" to get free filter. Far fetched marketing ideas? Think again...

This is how it is design without the lighthouse. You'll need to move it manually if you're using the virtual wall. Sometimes it may venture into the rooms so if you're not picky, simply runs it daily and it will do a good job.

2) Is the roomba 560 compatible with lighthouses? Any of the dealers, uno_bliss, Juboo sells the lighthouse if compatible with 560?

I do sell the lighthouse but your 560 that comes with the auto virtual does not support it. You will need the item in the pic piggy back onto your mainboard. I can do it but it's costly as you still need to purchase the lighthouses.

3) I notice the roomba actually bumps into some spots aka bumper car like that.. :) Are there any recommended ways to bump proof the robot?..

You can get a bumper guard from me. See the last item on roomba's accessories page here Robovac iRobot Store

Q1a) The robot only managed to clean for around 1hour before it had to go back and charge...
A1a) Roomba seldom allocate >1 hr for large areas, so its return to base is not due to battery flat.

Q1b) the robot kept cleaning the same places.. Is there anything I should do to get it to move to other places in my house before it needs to recharge?
A1b) Roomba should be running around, if it kept cleaning say Living Room, maybe ur couch & other furniture are too cramped together, so it takes long time to escape the obstacle course.

Q1b) I thought about using the virtual walls but need to shift it on daily basis if I were to use them.
A1b) U can try ur suggestion if things don't improve. U'll be one of the first to do so.

Q2) Is the roomba 560 compatible with lighthouses? Any of the dealers, uno_bliss, Juboo sells the lighthouse if compatible with 560?
A2) If ur Roomba didn't come with lighthouses, then it's not compatible. Unless u change motherboard. I have quite a few spare lighthouse motherboard.

Q3) I notice the roomba actually bumps into some spots aka bumper car like that.. Are there any recommended ways to bump proof the robot?
A3) I have highly affordable bumper guard for Roomba, super durable black PVC foam material.

Any queries can email me unobliss@yahoo.com:s8:

This is because Spring Singapore is cracking up on sellers with modified charger which is unapproved by them. They are conducting spot check now as I think John Ackerman might have felt the pressure.

Bro Uno, you might be next............. I'm already being audited and I guess so is Auto***.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm aware of the situation since Aug. Worse case scenario I just do iRobot repairs lor, it's already what's taking up 60% of my time.:s22:

Should we let the homebase charging continuesly? Better for battery life?
or best to turn the power OFF when the battery is FULL to save electricity. Better for pocket.

Reply from iRobot Sg saying that by 24hrs standby would comsume estimated ~$5-$10/month.
well, I think that quite a lot.

How do you guys use?

$5-$10 is "pluck magic numbers from thin air". That's what I think...

I've done my calculations before, it's ~$1.5/mth. If wanna see my detailed calculations, just PM or email me unobliss@yahoo.com.:s8:

my advice is be mindful when you buy all this clones. My friend bought one and change exchange three time and all off them gave him problem. In the end asked for refund.

Good luck!

Para-Beat

Yeap, it really looks like a MIC clone but at least i think it looks better than the cleanbo or sth. Hahaha ... The website seems to have quite a range of other products too!

http://www.paranello.com/vacuums/multibot-vacuum.html
Paranello Vacuum Robot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAqOLYw1-vk
Funbeat Vacuum Robot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPP3iRScv10

After careful look at Paranello website, I double confirm with chop that it's from same factory as Funbeat. Only the top panel is different, everything else is same.
