iRobot Scooba experience

Yes this is the one. I ask the sales person to demo the set. She pour out the dust and set it to roam. It pick up everything, including staples. I use my hand to wipe on the tile, its clean, no dusty feeling on my palm. So i'm quite sold on this model, and its price is so attractive. Something similar would cost at least double. such as the QQ2.

Not forgetting the 1yr warranty. even after 1 year spoil also worth it. you employ a maid already 600-700 per month.

Actually I'm using the Robovac. I would say yes it is actually quite decent for that price range. Just that it is pretty dumb and the battery doesn't really last all that long. I think it can be consider as an entry level but I still dreaming of scooba.

Do u have a picture of how it looks like underneath and the cleaning mechanism?

I have used various robotic cleaners b4... if u r talking abt dust, staples, etc., practically all of them are capable of picking such items. Problem comes when u have rice, crumbs, fur balls, long hair, etc. Most of these cleaners rely solely on a small vacuum path and a relatively small vacuum motor to do the job. To enhance the suction power, the vacuum path has to be kept small and short. Unfortunately, this means that bigger items will never be picked up into the bin...sometimes may even end up blocking the vacuum path. Roomba is different as it has an additional counter rotating brushes system to sweep bigger items into its bin. Apart from cleaning ability, navigational functionality and the ability to NOT get stuck is important. Short of having TRUE ROOM MAPPING, the Roomba is the best bet out there so far for all these functionalities IMO. One more important point to take note, most of the other robotic cleaners are usually equpped with lower capacity NiCd/Nimh batteries, probably giving u 60 to 80 mins max of cleaning time on hard flooring. Roomba gets u 120mins with its NiMh battery. The extra cleaning time can sometimes be important, especially for bigger cleaning area.

It's amazing how much roomba finds even on a relatively clean floor. Now i'm considering getting a scooba. I remember reading some time back about a couple of you guys getting your scooba from ebay. Can share which ebay seller you got it from? It will also be great if other details like shipping method (VPOST, USPS), shipping cost, shipping duration and if the set is new or remanufactured. Thanks in advance.

My main concern with getting the roomba is the no warranty issue. If spoil, thats it.

Kelvar, the ebay seller which i got my Scooba from no longer has Scoobas available for sale. He used to be selling 350s and 380s at very attractive prices. Shipping is via US Postal Service. For a Scooba packaged in its original box with a slightly bigger outer box (see my pics in earlier msgs), shipping from US to Singapore is USD72. Duration is 5 working days. You might like to keep a lookout on ebay for new listings.. u never know when a good deal will pop up again.

Its a risk u'll have to take... so best bet is NOT to buy refurbished units. In any case, i believe many of us who purchased our Roombas from US have units that already outlived the 1 yr warranty period. From the feedback from users concerning the quality of service provided by the local distributor, this may be a calculated risk to take.

I ordered my Roomba plus Scooba combo set from irobot on 20 Sep and saw that they shipped out the 2 units on 23 Sep via USPS and left the dispatch centre on 25 Sep but even today, VPostUSA has yet to receive the shipment

And I understand that VPost won't ship until we pay the shipping bill ah?

USPS domestic is quite slow, may take a week to reach vpostusa.

Don't worry, vpost will alert you to pay immediately when shipment arrived there.

vpost: no money, no ship.

Do u have a tracking code for US Postal Service domestic delivery? You can check the status on the USPS website. Sometimes it may take Vpost up to 2 days to inform u after it has taken local delivery!!! As long as u use VpostUSA, u just have to exercise extreme PATIENCE.

I am tracking the delivery via irobot...

Very convoluted cos I paid using Google and then I will be shipping through VPostUSA...

you can pay with google checkout with yr SG credit cards, then shipping address in google checkout fill in vpostusa address.

It's a waitin game after you checked out.

Vpost might ship to SG first then after you make pmt, they deliver to your house. 2 days after i paid, they delivered to my house... if from usa, how cld it be so fast?

So far, my 380 n 4210 (both from eBay) are doin fine. We prefer the 380 which really mops well, i m impressed everytime i step into the bathroom after 380's is there. As for 4210, the suction cant match the normal vacuum but it can reach places where your vacuum will miss n pick up dirt which you thot was not there. i believe, it can also pick up dirt in a clean room as it works relentlessly until battery flat, even in a 2 sqm room!

Its surprisingly detailed and clear... even more so than irobot USA website. Seems like iRobot is intent on competing with the Korean bots... stiff competition i suppose over in Korea?

I entered my request thru vConcierge yesterday and received a rejection today. Reason of rejection: Merchant do not accept orders being placed outside USA. Any kind souls can advise on how can I ship this roomba back to SG?

Would also kindly appreciate any feedback or comments on the roomba 535. Thanks in advance

vConcierge suppose to help purchase something that we can't do with our sg credit cards.

I guess you would have to purchase other models through amazon, ebay or irobot store.
