Hi all, thanks for the information. It has really been helpful. ;)

Missed the woot.com offer, do post here to let us know if there's any gd offer again. Do you need to register with them to buy or is it after you bought then you provide the details?

scooba is great, no need to manual mop floor forever.:s7:

But I find scooba a bit heavy when tanks are filled up. Somemore, I realised the brushes, like toothbrush, use long already brushes will spilt out. I wonder can it still able to scrub the floors properly.

I now have 2 scooba and 1 roomba.

My roomba seldom use but I tempted to get the new models. Maybe wait a while then get lor, else my mother will make noise for having so many irobots at home.

I had my first Roomba Discovery from US since 2003. Or is it 2004? Can't remember. It was really great at first. But after about a year, the battery died. I bought one from the local distributor for S$90+. Then the charger brick died. I order one from US for about S$100. (There wasn't too much of a hacking community then to share knowledge. If not, I may try to repair it.) Then the Roomba died too. Called up iRobot, they say they will send the OMSO update. I gave them vPostUSA address. But never reach. I decided to use the lifetime warranty it comes with Hammacher Schlemmer and ship back for full refund using surface mail at about S$80+. I got back US$269, the price I bought it for. I had to bear all shipping cost.

After so many years, I just ordered a Scooba 5999 (Refurbished 5800) from Amazon. After long story of no stock and complains, they sold me at US$169.75. It just arived at vPostUSA. Now waiting for them to match the invoice and bill me. I look forward to another 'relationship' with a robot. Hope that there will be more ups and downs.

A couple of tips that may be helpful. Step down transformers can be bought from Mustafa at usually lower price as compared to Sim Lim Tower and Square. But this time I may try to mod the charger since my last one died after using the Newstar 80W for about a year or so.

Singapore Credit Cards can almost always be accepted by all US stores online. I know that some of them have a drop down list of states and countries to choose from and Singapore is not one of them. Don't care! I will usually put my full Singapore address (including singapore postal code) on the address lines 1 and 2. For the state drop down list and postal code, I will put the vPostUSA state and postal code. This usually works and I have no problems with them charging my credit card. (So far I only experience iTunes Store that rejected it, which I then have to use my PayPal. But strangely, the USA Apple Store accepted it.) I also just registered with Woot this way and it was accepted although I had not bought anything from them yet.

vPost has matched my order! Thank God that the box seems rather small.

Merchant Name : amazon.com

Description : IROBOT SCOOBA FLOOR WASHING ROBOTIC HARD

Dimension : 55X43X14 cm, 5.5kg

Actual Weight : 6.4kg

Weight : : 6.4kg

Weight Charge : SGD$ 58.62

*Base Charge : SGD$ 13.24

Total Estimated Shipping Charge : SGD$ 71.86

After 13% discount code from UOB, it's about S$62.50. I think that is rather reasonable. Can't wait for it to reach here. I better go Sim Lim Tower soon to get capacitor, varistor and fuse to get ready to mod the charger. vPost seems to be really efficient nowadays. I found out from UPS that it was only delivered hours ago to vPostUSA and they matched the invoice already. They used to take days to do that. Great work, vPost!

haha, I m the reverse, I might consider getting a scooba now that the roomba is working so well. Just hope the new generation batt is as lasting as irobot says ... suppose to last 5 yrs ... and hopefully more accessories is available soon, so i can get them ... :)

Dead Roomba battery packs

Does anyone have a dead Roomba battery pack to give me? I'm thinking of retrofitting one with with some 2500mah AA Nimh cells. Curious to see how well it works.

I'd happily pick it up at your convenience. Thanks! :)

Hi Mosmos,

can I check for ur 5800? where did you buy from? I understand Amazon normally will double box items so might end up being charge more than the 7.1kg that yours was ...
