Actually I have a friend in USA so I think it is easier...I thought using credit cards should be easy and straightfoward for us, maybe they dont allow us to buy hmmmm

what irobots are you using momos?
maybe we should start a name list like who has what robot? hahahah

My Scooba 335 and roomba 535 is arriving tomorrow saturday by 12pm, that's why too excited...hope it will be fine...its like hiring 2 maids. I hope I will not regret buying frmo HSN and not irobot website, afterall this 2 robots are not sold on irobot website...think some accessories difference.

Do not use transformer, especially for 5xx series, in long run will spoil the batt. I did a mod to fully convert to 220v, yes i changed 3 components Varistor, TimeDelay Fuse and Capacitor, it's working fine now :) Of cause also convert to 3 pin plug.

Can you elaborate on how by using a transformer can damage the battery of a 5xx series?

Hoppie, you modify yourself? I am not good in all these soldering stuffs. It seems complicated to me.

Not sure how now...more and more confused. :s11: some ppl says mod. will have danger, some says using transformers....hmmmmmmm worried

leave the irobot at home while u at work?

Hi everyone,

Can I check whether do you all leave the charger and transformer on for maybe 12 hrs a day? Since the robot can park itself into the self charging base. Am thinking of leaving it to run by itself while I am at work. :)

if you're not willing to put in the effort to dig through 200+ pages to find info on mod, i think you wont spare the effort for mod hehe

unless if you know how to solder, getting the newstar transformer is the quickest solution

i have not read anything in roomba forum that indicates modding will spoil the batt but then again almost everyone there are electronic genius and will mod. whats for sure is quite a few of the forumers here use the transformer for mths to years with no problem.

wats for certain is there will be some power wastage and it will be messy with 2 power bricks with accompanying wires.

hoppie's mod is the extreme case where 3 items are changed. many people have just replaced the capacitor, removed the varistor totally and didn bother with time fuse and it still worked.

lastly the roomba is recommended to remain plugged in 27/7. the scooba however is abit tricky. the 3XX series should be safe to remain plugged in but the previous models have history of battery dieing from such.

I am curious to find out too. The input has nothing to do with the output what?

I think they are worried abt some current spike which might damage some components?

If a spike from the output of a transformer can damage the internal components, the spike direct from your AC supply will KILL ANY and EVERYTHING connected to it :s22:

hmm you may be right on that. I am not sure..

1 question for anyone, the ac adpator says 22.5V, can we just go get a dc adaptor that converts 220V AC voltage to 22.5 DC voltage? instead of using 220 to 110v then to 22.5vDC?
YES! I got my robot less than 5 minutes ago!!!! :yawn: Anyone knows how to attach an image to here besides using URL?? sorry newbie. :s11:

Convertor is not the same as transformer...do note...
