U can easily test whether sidebrush module is faulty by swapping another working one. I can help with this or any bros here or ur high-tech neighbour possibly may have a sidebrush module to test for u.
If turns out it's PCB problem, I can help with it. Last Dec I fixed a duff PCB for user "tigerlily" who had non-moving sidebrush, nothing to do with sidebrush module.

I cannot see the 3rd pic but from the 1st & 2nd pic, it seems like the same to me with my regular bin. However, my dog is short fur so I would not say that it is fair for me to compare as I might get no fur at all on the brushes if I use that aerovac bin One good thing is that aerovac does not have the squegee at the bottom which will usually be stuck with these fur thus blocking the airflow of the vacuum.

Yes, the biggest plus of Aerovac bin is there's no squeegy to jam with dust/fur strips, jamming completely nullifies purpose of the fine dust vacuum.

Aerovac bin will definitely store more, cos debris is compacted to the rear, no more dangling long hair which bristle brush tends to pull back out.
As stated in my previous Aerovac review, bristle brush & it's yellow bearing will be much cleaner.

Anyway, I disassembled the module to check if it's clogged inside. It wasn't. But when I reassembled it, the spinning went back to normal. So it's working now, I just hope it stays that way for a while.

Neato's RPS looks great & promising. However it does not have a bristle brush like roomba. It only has a beater brush which allows it to perform better in carpet condition as in the states, most houses have carpet. If you see the Dyson Animal, they have beater brush also as it works great on carpet loosening dust and fur from the carpet.

This might be the reason why they employ a stronger vacuum Stronger vacuum consumes more power but it can be easily compensated as Neato only visit the same area once. However, this is still not good as experience tells us that not everything is pickup in a single pass.

Roomba's beater brush loosen dirt, bristle brush works great at sweeping up small debris off the floor onto the upper chamber and fine particles and dust would be vacuum into the lower filtered chamber.

Roomba's AWARE algorithum looks stupid but it still manage to cover almost 90+% of the house if not all. I'm sure many of you members here can prove it.

I do agree with you and my first paragraph is exactly the same as your statement.

Another concern is the availability of spares and service support. Roomba's spares is readily available and servicing is not a problem too.

Anyone selling roomba disco parts? my home base sensor is out of action, swivel caster almost lost its black n white color and wheels starting to jam more often causing roomba to spin round n round.

Loss of ability to seek home could be Home Base problem, or Roomba bumper IR detector (the round protruding one).

To know which one is faulty, it's real simple:
1) borrow a working Home Base, or use handphone camera to check IR emission
2) use activated Virtual Wall & see if Roomba respond to it

Possible outcome:
1) another Home Base works fine = ur Home Base faulty (either IR bulb burnt or electronics failed)
2) no response to Virtual Wall = ur Roomba bumper IR detector faulty (probably electronics failed on bumper PCB or main PCB)

Dirty swivel caster can easily be washed & scrubbed by popping it out, remove hair ball from socket.
Verify if rear wheels jammed by flipping over & use thumb to push wheels manually, looking out for unusual resistance. Rear wheels problems can also be main PCB related. I've fixed before wheels that are dead in either forward or reverse, such failure results in Roomba partial mobility.

My roomba scheduler main brush stopped turning and the speaker muted. The robot is still able to move around with side brush spinning without problem. Done the self test 11, no motor noise and brush not turning. Has the motor died? How much it will cost to fix it?

Hi uno_bliss, looks like the sensor could be faulty. I opened it up and found that the wiring inside was torn up, hope its just a wiring problem only. If not i have to get a replacement sensor. Do you keep parts for that?

Also, my scooba tank seems to give me problems now too. Always gives me the check tank error. Other forums have said that flushing the dirty tank with vinegar and hot water works for me, but only for a while. The next day when I try to run the scooba, it gives check tank error again. Anyway, if anyone has a working scooba tank for 5800 for sale, I'd be interested.
