Actually if u can generate virtual manager inside a virtual environment, it can help u alot like chase customers for payment, order details, appointment, review interview for hr, decision making on restock or product change in organisation. U save millions of labour cost. Its actually happening in china liao.

After the not too distant bubble burst, investors will be more cautious

There will be over inflated companies for sure

But AI is the future

Already Nvidia has a super computer AI chip that requires only 40 watts, this is just power needed for two home fans

Boss asked me switch some ops to AI.Shuddered to think someday will become the movie I,Robot ..where they really take over ..
It’s not just hype, but reaching true human-level autonomous operation is still some distance away.

That said, for simpler workflows, AI can replace certain tasks or at least speed them up with Agentic AI.

When u ask if it is overhyped, clearly it cannot be answered as it is. Context matters.

Is it overhyped in the sense that it is not as good as it is made to? No. It is not overhyped.

Is it overhyped in the sense that AI will take over jobs as we see how so many jobs are being replaced thanks to AI? Maybe.

- U know how it works right? Corporate folks? - U implement AI, u promise it can do 200% more in 50% of the time, and therefore what actually matters in cost savings is cutting manpower. Literally. All about bottom line.
- Not having to pay more salary reduces manpower cost. That's why they cut ppl.
- Fortune, Harvard all have reports how companies are not scaling up AI as much as the world is making it to be. 95% of companies are not actually repaying cost savings from AI.

So is it overhyped in this context? Maybe.

IIs AI gonna take over fashion, food chains, geriatrics services? Unlikely.
It's all about profits in business sense. Even the companies are profiting, no one will mind even more profits. So by saying AI is not there to replace human in business sense, it's a šŸ‚ ****

If benefit over alternative > price difference of alternative, then it's good. Else it's hype.

For example the productivity of SG minister is higher than the price difference compared of US president, thus it's good.

Probably overhyped for the general masses.
Just like GPS. There is military grade and less accurate commercial grade.

If switch some ops like SOC monitoring to real time AI then it will be very good. But the key question is... how to implement, test and switch?

Draft a report stating all your unknowns and unverified methods then your boss will scare liao.

Massively overhyped. OpenAI wants to spend 1.4 Trillion on AI infrastructure when its annual revenue is only 20 billion. The hype does not match reality.

i read that although many companies adopt AI, they are not seeing significant revenue from AI yet
the use case scenario is not there

I think it’s still early days.

Like internet.

Last time websites mostly gifs with cringey loud colours, not much security etc.

Now internet spin off to social media

Cos need to invest in robotics, maintenance and training the AI and human to manage it. For security guards, it will be good like Jewel Changi Certis that kind to perform remote monitoring of premises (means no more prowling). But how well it performs we won't know. Maybe one day Certis fed up they go back human patrol
