" Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger retires retires "

not sure if good or bad news....he was THE Engineer leader.![]()
Maybe intel go too DEI woke also a cause to failureHe was mentored by Andy Grove, and one of the good engineering leads apart from Intel Israel's lead Mooly Eden running for CEO post Otellini that lost the race.
Main problem is Intel's board and the interests they represent and obsession with financial ratios.
Quick look at Intel Board of Directors vs. Huawei Board of Directors:

https://www.huawei.com/en/executives
Intel Board
50% engineers, 50% MBA/Finance/Bean counters (6 v 6)
incl. former Boeing CFO.
Huawei Board
82% engineers,18% MBA/Finance/Bean counters (14 vs 3)
Lisa Su is overhyped, she's just at the right place right time, but less execution issues relative to the competition. If the fab guy didn't run Intel and Pat/Mooly or those Haifa design leads running the group, there would be no breather.
The ones making the key executive hires and board shuffle were Rory Read. Rory Read brought in a bunch of IBM hires and among them were Lisa Su and Mark Papermaster.
This keynote back then had more than half the speakers formerly from IBM.
Jim Keller and Raja Koduri were also brought in by him.
Edit: If Lisa Su ran Intel, the fate would be the same as Pat. Ousted by the board over PE ratio, dividends and making sure the percentages look good even if they sold less products, less competitiveness as long as costs are low.
