Many thanks Zhutou and xuite. i had my 100 for 1 week plus and yday i took down to review. its functioning well. lol my wife was impressed when she saw that my video actually has google map + speedometer. only downside is the SD card is too small so only contains 1 day video. maybe will buy a bigger sd card for it next time.

cheers

Np bro glad that you like it. Do take note to get SanDisk or transcend class 10 if you are upgrading to 32GB which can last around 15 hours. :)

Hi guys,I understand that the normal car battery under normal conditions can be used for at least 2 years. Was wondering how the installation of this camera has reduced the battery life of the car battery. Any comments?
Thanks

My 2 cents, both cars also installed ITB

1st car: my batt was abt 10mths old when I installed the cam. After 7mths my batt died.

2nd car: batt was 3yrs and 1mth old, installed ITB and within the same week, batt went flat (power saver kept turning cam off and the nxt day car couldn't start had to activate VCS road side assistance to replace batt).

U draw ur own conclusion from the above, IMO I feel the dvr definetly shortern the batt lifespan

do you drive very often or 90% parking? What is your cut off voltage?
I have the same problem as your when I used the old type power magic which is only have 11.8v cut off. My car battery also die after 10 months. Now I using the ITB power saver with 12v cut off. I monitor the voltage..

For car batteries above 1.5 years old, we usually recommend to power off if not driving for more than 3 days. Reason is because although it cut off at the 12V, your car alarm is still drawing power & older batteries need a higher voltage to start up.
Not just for Itronics, for any 12V car cameras.
Hope this helps.

if you talking about cut off by simply pull out/disconnect the power plug to the camera...it dose not work.. cause i tested and even you unplug the power plug to the camera..the power saver is still drawing juice from the battery..the only way is to disconnect the red wire(the one that connect directly to battery) from the power saver.
That why I'm looking at the new power magic pro that come with the switch that can totally switch off

Power Saver is a monitoring safety device that does not draw any power from the car battery. Power magic pro is just another similar product with on/off switch, by disconnecting the power supply which is similar to disconnecting the power from the dvr (the actual thing drawing power).
Correct me if i am wrong.:vijayadmin:

So far, i have always been overseas from 1-2 weeks and disconnecting the power cable from my dvr doesnt drain my battery when i am back. And i am running 2 cameras front and back with 2 power savers. Hope it helps.

Cheers!

so, conclusion is? should i install ITB in my car? if i turn off the itb when parkin, is it safe to say the battery will not be used by the itb at all?

If you don't need surveillance, then just tap to ignition without Power saver.

u have to draw ur own conclusion...for me i feel it definetly stresses the batt out faster...if got warranty on batt ok...if not xiong man every 7-10mths change batt. vcs car batt 300+ per unit
