I'm using the plain ITB-100HD for around 1.5yrs. Just had my second SD spoilt. Both were Sandisk Ultra 30MB/s versions, 32GB and 16GB. The 32GB lasted for around a year and the 16GB a couple of months.

Seems to be same mode of failure. Unit suddenly keep beeping. Format card and seems ok, but after awhile will start beeping again. Plug card into computer, there are some footages, not new but some time ago (probably just before onset). Delete all files seemed ok, but once take out plug in again, the files reappeared. No way to permanently remove... which means can't write to the card anymore (that's why unit started beeping).

I'm not sure if it's the heat that killed it. Any known issues with the unit overheating? Sometimes when I happen to touch it, it's really hot (even at night w/o the sun)!

Car is often parked in open carpark in the day though.

interesting... i had a 64GB Sandisk Ultra 30MB/s that only lasted 4 months, suffered similar symptoms until the point where the files cannot be deleted from the SD card, nor formatted. current 64GB is 3 months and counting. and this is with fully sheltered parking day and night (ITB-100SPW).

Did you run h2testw to ensure that the SD card is original?

the SD card is already corrupted to the point where it cannot be written onto, so running h2testw will not yield any results now. and in any case, it was definitely 64GB in usable size (I've copied all the contents from the SD card when it was filled with recordings), and was tested for read/write speeds initially, I don't doubt the authenticity of it (bought from a very reliable source too).

which reminds me, I should RMA it...

this is quite normal for night time video quality, i doubt you had better night time video quality with the same camera before (i.e. it didn't "became damn grainy", it was always like this), perhaps you are comparing day time to night time?

I understand that during night time with poor lighting condition the video will become "grainy", I would have agree with you wholeheartedly. But with proper lighting condition, is it suppose to be like this?

Just that means during night time, with proper lighting, it will always be like what my picture shows?

anyway, for comparison.

Maybe I got super eye, but it is obviously very clear when first bought (like super HD movie) but seems like the quality will go down slightly after a few months of usage.

Anyway, if only I met this "issue", probably the problem lies on my side :)

I'm using the ITB100 Wifi model .... I have similar issue. Bought a 64GB SD card and only lasted about 2 months ... failure mode is exactly what you have described ... put back the original 8GB SD card that came with the camera and so far so good ...

My car also parked under open car park in my office compound ...

do you have screen grabs of videos from when you first bought?

I don't see anything odd with your above screen grabs, when the vehicle is in motion with substantial speed, you will not get fantastic freeze frame image quality, even if it's a video in day time.

hmm...unfortunately no...i doubt anyone keep videos from 8-9months back....

My speed was only 60km/h from the screen cap...

I suspect could be the SD card, constantly writing & rewriting has probably make the quality of the SD card recording drop...

I shall try another SD card to see whether is it still the same....update here when I have the results :)

I have a similar problem of the as some of you about the camera and the SD card.

The camera beeps at times upon starting my car. I have to unplug the power and re-plug and it will be fine. I have discovered that if I format the SD card with the camera periodically, this beeping occur less frequently.

So now, I format the card on the 1st or the last day and the 15th of every month.

i have videos from 7 months back, i copy them to the computer whenever there is a need to review the files on SD card.

that's the way video compression works, the more moving details there are, the harder it is to keep the quality with the same bitrate, 60kmh is plenty to have lots of details in motion.

nothing to do with SD card, if it can't support the write speed, you would have encountered errors, and not dropped video quality.

i think it's just a case of novelty effect wearing off.

Yours what model? Wifi model?

Few months back I reflected that I always encounter the camera prompting me to reformat the card, and I found out it wasn't the problem of the SD card.

I came to realise this that whenever I access the camera files and view them with the ipassblack app on the phone, it will prompt me to reformat after awhile continuously with the beep beep sound.

So I stop using the app few months back and ever since then, the camera has never "beep beep" me to reformat the card :s13:

I can't remember my model off hand. It's a simple model without wifi and connect direct to my ignition.

I have this issue despite I seldom view the recordings from the SD card on my PC with the software unless there is a need to.

Since, it doesn't really cause any trouble other than the need to format the card periodically, I just leave it be till I chance upon this thread.

I am using both ITB100SP and ITB100SPW on my car.
The SP video quality is great. Playback on both Itronics software and Win media player same good quality.
The SPW video quality seems to be poorer than the older SP on the Itronics player. It got even worse when using Win media player or any other players.
My settings are all at the highest.

Do you guys observe this also?

I requote myself. I have both SPW and SP versions installed on my car. The ITB100SP is almost 2 years old but its video quality is so much better than the newer ITB100SPW.

My conclusion is the spw video quality is inferior for it price class. Plus, with 64GB card, it gave me some formating problems. Want to buy Itronics, buy the older non-wifi version. They were the best during their time.
