It's nice for me:s13:

Its true bro, alot of things, including food is not as expensive as you'd think in Hokkaido.

A box of 美冬choc from Ishiya factory cost just SG$7... bigger box at about $10 only.. that's the price of a high end Cadbury choc in SG. and there's no Cadbury choc out there that can even come close to the taste

Isetan is selling at what... 2x the price here:(

i am sis, not bro. :s22:

So when u going Hokkaido again? Help me buy the yummy tidbits!!!
(i give u 10% tips, heh)

Opps sorry sis.

Haha next yr lor. Prob ard May again. That's the best month to visit Hokkaido IMHO. It's low season so hotels, plane tickets, car rental are cheaper, winter is almost over but its still plenty cold everywhere, you can see quite abit of flowers despite the low temp.

No more thick snow on the roads so its easy to drive everywhere.:D

You're right, Hokkaido is great for all seasons. But they do have hightourist seasons and low seasons too.

June - Sep is considered Summer high season.
Dec-Feb is considered winter high seasons

Plane tickets, hotel, car rental rates will be more expensive during these times. And for hot touristy spots, you can be sure there will be quite alot of pple too.

Hokkaido population is low no doubt, but don't forget citizens from the rest of Japan love to visit Hokkaido as much as we foreigners do, if not more. And then we have tourists from all over the world as well.

But its a gd thing PRC pple has almost stop visiting Japan after the Senkaku islands dispute. They really know how to mess everything up everywhere they go... like locusts:eek::(:s22: Hokkaido can maintain its peace and quiet and orderly much better without PRCs ard

Just watched Jiro Dreams of Sushi! Has anyone been to his restaurant? Quite curious to hear some accounts of the dining experience if anyone here has been before.

Sorry if the question has been asked before already. Didn't have time to read thru the whole thread.

Keep seeing this popular Japanese fish delicacy in many places usually sold in bins or packets. It seemed especially popular at Endoshima Island, which is known for its squid as well. Its some kind of micro ikan bilis and the resturant asked if I wanted it boiled, so I assume it can be eaten raw??? Anyway, orderd it boiled and it needs to be eaten with the yellow radish mixed with the miso sauce and rice. A bit salty and not much fish taste so probably don't know how to appreciate it. Y900.

Yep, it's Shirasu (Dried Baby Sardines) or whitebait.

What do you guys like about it?
in Japanese cuisine, it is eaten boiled/raw as sushi or over rice. If you ask me, it is Japanese traditional breakfast food.

I had whitebait in New Zealand that was battered up and fried. yummy stuff.

Sharing some food i had there~

First, Ramen (Menya Ittou in Tokyo)

æ*±äº¬ã*®ãƒ©ãƒ¼ãƒ¡ãƒ³(拉麺) ランã‚*ング [食ã*¹ãƒ*ã‚°]

According to Tabelog ranking, this is number #2 ramen in whole of Japan!

Long queue even during weekday lunch

This is not located near popular district in Tokyo (Shin-Koiwa)

My rating -> Really deserving of the #2 ranking. Beware of long queue

Next, 大心 Ramen @ Sapporo.

I found this store at Sapporo Ramen Street (Sapporo Station)

http://tabelog.com/hokkaido/A0103/A010304/1007232/

Sapporo is famous for Miso Butter corn ramen

My Rating -> Before eating, i thought it will be disgusting. However, it is actually pretty nice. The Butter and Corn complement the Miso soup perfectly
