Hi ladies and gentlemen,

I will be having my first trip to Tokyo for 8 days next week..With the priceless help from samathan - her blog Go Away, Sam..., (she is super helpful), i manage to plan out most days for my itinerary....now just lack of food guide. Can anyone give me a guide on where to eat....not too ex, travelling on a budget of 1100.

Just a draft of my itinerary
Day 1 - From narita airport to higashi-shinjuku, statying at hotel sunroute higashi shinjuku. Visit Meiji Shrine, Yoyogi park, Harajuku, and Shibuya

Day 2 - Disneysea

Day 3 - Disneyland

Day 4 - Visit Asakusa, Sensoji shrine, Ueno, Tokyo skytree, Odaiba.

Day 5 - Yokohama(Chinatown) + Character street at Tokyo station

Day 6 - dont know yet

Day 7 - Sanrio Puroland (first half) + second half last min shopping

Day 8 - fly out tokyo.

As our hotel package does not include bf... we need to settle all 3 meals outside...oh ya and i heard their lunch are cheaper compared to dinner. Maybe we can eat better during lunch and not so gd during dinner haha

Please provide some recommendations and how much shld we set aside for 3 meals per day in tokyo...(average, dont need v ex food but also dont need save dao v jialats)

Thanks

Day 4 - Visit Asakusa, Sensoji shrine, Ueno, Tokyo skytree, Odaiba.

Day 5 - Yokohama(Chinatown) + Character street at Tokyo station

I feel that you should take out Odaiba from Day 4 and move it to Day 6 instead.

Anyway for food heres what I recommend.

Tokyo station: Kajitsuen, This is more for dessert I have a pic of mango pancake but i cant upload here since the insert image tag only allows for website urls...........

Tokyo Skytree: RRW, they serve good pasta and roast chicken
RIGOLETTO ROTISSERIE AND WINE

Odaiba: The Oven, buffet style, popular among foreign tourists. I love their rotessire chicken. 1 thing for sure, if the weather is good, the view from the restaurant wont disappoint anyone =)

1 more restaurant to recommend in Tokyo Station, its the Tokyo branch of RRW (the one I recommended for Skytree). I went there for weekend lunch.

Japanese tofu salad and appetizers. The bacon with quail egg was good.

Baby scallops with mixed mushrooms spagetthi in butter shoyu sauce. I actually ordered the large version, but they gave me the normal version instead. I told this to the waiter, and he said that they will serve the difference later. Extremely fragrant and yummy.

The difference. It doesnt seem much when everything is served on 1 plate, but when you think of this as a seperate dish by itself, this seems to be extremely worth it at 100yen only lol.

Blueberry mousse with a drink (I chose hot tea).

Blanket for all customers to use. Since its near summer now not many pple use this, but once its winter everyone will be using it to warm their legs. Needless to say this place is very popular among female customers.

Now for the most important thing: the price.
All of these cost just 1600 yen (100 yen was for upsizing pasta).
Considering that the food is great, the location is convinient (directly opposite Tokyo station), and great scenery, this is extremely cheap. Highly recommended!!!!

Tsujihan - Nihonbashi

this is the best find of my trip. with the cheapest don set starting from 980 yen. you get sashimi, kaisen don and soup stock with rice. the owner have a recommended way of eating. firstly they will give you a small saucer of soysauce and a plate of sashimi. you are advised to leave 2 pieces of the sashimi to add it into the soup stock after you finish the main dish. than they will serve you your don. you are advised to add the amount of wasabi you like and mixed it into the soysauce before pouring it all over your don. after you are complete with the don place your bowl on the counter infront of you and they will ask you the serving of rice you would like for the soup. and lastly add the sashimi pieces with the sauce into the soup stock and enjoy.

tai sashimi

zeitaku don (luxurious don)

tai soupstock with rice

it was so good i came back 2 days later for this, the 2,980 yen topped with otoro, crab, uni and ikura.

advised to come at the time it opens to avoid long ques

keisuke duck soba-

as a fan of the keisuke franchise, i just had to come try this when i heard that it was newly open with a new concept

a very small store with an open counter concept, you can see them cook right infront of you very unlike what we get in singapore.

the duck used are all domestic, forgot from which state
ordered the most basic menu duck soba. the duck meat was extremely tender and flavorful, really wish we could have this in sg as well. love the veggie and soup as well

actually wanted to go to a tendon shop but the que was too insane at 1015 even tho it opens at 10. decided to swop around and visit the omurice stall nearby first. glad i drop by early as the crowds started forming at 1035 when the shop opens at 11.

a very refreshing and crunchy coleslaw which costed only 50 yen

another sidedish a light soup which also only costed 50 yen

traditional omurice at 1,800yen rather expensive i would say, taste was good but not something i would come back for as i'm not really a fan of omurice to begin with. also i might have ordered the wrong dish here as what they were really famous for was the tampopo omurice which was created for a movie. for that dish when you cut it open
the inner will open into an omelete..

tendon - hannosuke

tendon with a whole anago, 2 prawns, scallop/squid and egg

i came on a sunday and it may have been a big mistake. crazy que at 1015 which led me to come back at 4pm. even then the que was still crazy and i was crazy enough to que and i ended up waiting 2.5 hours for this. at less than 1,000 yen it is definitely worth it and much better than the tendon you can get at tenya but for a queing time this long is definitely not worth it. not sure how it would have been on a weekday but i can say the que was much shorter when i left around 7pm probably less than half of that at 4pm.

they have 2 other branch but this is the only one open on sunday

look at all that tofu, this shop is famous for a tofu rice dish and also oden (japanese version of yong taufu)

owner scooping up the cooked items i think

oden 4 pc set meal at 980 yen

a closer look at the 4 pcs. the tofu is awesome so soft and delicious. can see why the que keeps pouring in at 1130 with such price and quality
