Oh and the famous 551 Horai steam bun in Osaka. Think also found in Kyoto station. Delicious pau, gyoza, shao Mai and chimaki (our Zhong zhi)

never try Uoriki Kaisen before. But Midori is great. Be prepared to queue though...

Only tried Midori sushi. You should aim to go queue for the first seating otherwise your queue is going to be very long. We went half an hour before the store opened and there was already a line but still managed to get in for the first seating.

Just came back from Japan.

Had stay at Tsukiji Market so was aiming to try the famous Sushi Dai however 2 times I went the queue was so long that I had to give up (I even went 1 hr before their opening time which was at 5am and there was a queue about 40 people in line already)

However due to that, I got to tried some other good food around the area.
The following 2 are the best that I had at Tsukiji Market.

This don is to be divided and eaten in 3 ways:
1st: Eat the rice with the seafood sashimi bits without the Umi
2nd: Eat the rice mix with everything.
3rd: Pour dashi sauce into the mixed rice and eat it as a rice soup.

Ben Tomi Sushi: Best sushi I ever had!!!
The conger eel sushi is a must try.

@IcestarEarl you went at 4am by cab or you stayed nearby? that's really early! when i got there before 6am last last winter, there was a queue of 20 or so ppl. maybe the 1-2 batches of ppl already went in.

ended up eating at daiwa which had no queue. quite good too but not sure if i should eat daiwa again this nov. some of the other shops don't open as early and i'm heading off to takaosan afterwards.

not been there. think it's not worth the money and effort expanded, considering you have to be there before 4am to get a queue no. and then wait till 5ish in a waiting room before the auction starts according to the blog.

Hi all, my current itinerary will be going to Sapporo, Otaru, Noboribetsu, Hakodate, Kyoto and Tokyo. my gf wants to try the following so appreciate if bro can advise! I'm not looking for very expensive one, as long as it's decent! These are what I have in mind currently

- Chicken Nanban: I read Yayoi-ken do serve them and are good and reasonably priced? Also this Izakaya, Tamoiyanse (http://tamoiyanse.com)

- Sashimi: I suppose my best chance to get fresh sashimi will be the morning market @ Hakodate and perhaps sushi at Tsukiji Market @ Tokyo?

- Pastries: Gion Tsujiri (many places I can go for), Aoyama Flower Market Tea House @ Tokyo

For Tripadvisor, For food rating, i don't really trust much (Since it is written by Foreigners who don't get to eat Japanese food often -> To them Tsukiji is very good sushi)

I use Tabelog ranking,
