hmm, tried ichiran ramen in ueno. have to say i have tasted much better. the only thing i liked was the hardboiled egg. the noodle being first time trying, ordered medium.... zzz thry came like they are undercooked and hard. als two pathetic thin slice of tasteless pork. last time i will try ichiran already.

anyway there is a nice ramen north west of shinjuku jr station. the first shop in the whole row of lanes of food stalls. soya sauce based soup. order the 1000 yen big bowl and u will have around 12 to 16 slice of tasty pork. ramen and soup also very nice. much much better than ichiran

yeah, i wonder how they make the hard boiled egg until the outside is fully cooked but inside still orangy 90% cooked. taste so fabulous compared to the fully cooked version in singapore and elsewhere in the world

Japan Egg just tastes great! Shops in Singapore hardly know how to make them properly. And anyone visited the ramen store near Ikebukuro Station? Serves awesome Ramen (Free UPSIZE) and Gyoza on hot plate

they sell the egg at the supermarkets. I used to buy 1, then cook instant noodles, or rice, and whip up some seaweed soup !!

i know how to make.. but flavoured i dunno.. u just boil for like 4mins? then put in cold water.

For those who miss Hokkaido food especially the desserts isetan Scott's having Hokkaido food promotion in supermarket. Just bought the crab and some cheese cakes today. Yummy!

Easy to find that at Kansai. Don't waste your time finding them outside airport as u can't find any. Only Osaka banana.

That is the idea. I dont thnk i can find those located outside the airport unless i patiently translate one by one their websote list.. so confirmed there is one in kansai airport, can remember whc floor/area located? And is it open until 9pm? Im arrving by 830pm.

Kyoto's pickled veggies are also quite famous, so maybe you can sample then buy back to eat in the hotel room?

What you can do is to walk by the restaurant one or two nights before your actual meal and make a reservation with the staff.


If you like kushiage, you can try Daruma Kushiage next to Tsutenkaku Tower (Shin Sekai)They have english/Chinese menus so no worries.

If you want cheap meals(under 500yen), you can look for the various gyudon chains.
Or buy onigiris from the combinis
