hi guys i will be heading to tokyo next week, can help check whether my itinerary is feasible, too rush or too lepak. will not have much night activities as my mother prefer to rest at night.thanks.

Continuing the discussion from the other thread, decided to write up my tentative itinerary.

April 19th (Fri): Arrive at Nagoya from Sg at 9.30am. Bring luggage to hotel and explore Nagoya. Take bus to Nabana no sato for illumination. If no illumination, stay in Nagoya city walk around. (Nagoya shortened to one night to make more room for Takayama) Or should I still keep it as two nights?

April 20th (Sat): Check out hotel. Explore more Nagoya city. Start Alpine-Takayama-Matsumoto pass. Train to Takayama after lunch. Check in and walk around old town. Try to find Hida beef for dinner or next day lunch. Any recommendations?

April 21st (Sun): Morning market. Bus to festival museum. Back and do Higashiyama walk.

April 22nd (Mon): Check out hotel and send luggage to Tokyo. Bus to Shirakawago. Lunch and walk around. Bus to Toyama.

April 23rd (Tues): Alpine route. Proceed to Matsumoto after collecting hand carry luggage at Shinano Omachi.

April 24th (Wed): Matsumoto castle and surroundings. Evening train to Kofu for overnight stay.

April 25th (Thurs): Bus direct from Kofu to Kawaguchiko. See shibazakura. Take train/bus to Shinjuku depending on availability. Check in hotel at Kanda/Oimachi.

April 26th (Fri): Hitachi seaside park for nemophilia. KIV either join tour or take train. If trying to avoid more long distance travel due to golden week, dont think JR Tokyo wide pass would be useful?

April 27th (Sat): Tokyo - Kameido tenjin Shrine for wisteria if blooming. North side Tokyo Ueno and Ameyoko.
April 28th (Sun): Tokyo - Shibuya and Harajuku
April 29th (Mon): Tokyo - Shinjuku, Shinjuku garden if still got nice flowers
April 30th (Tues): Asakusa and Tokyo Station for final shopping . Currently considering taking 10pm flight back to Sg. Previous plan was May 1st 9am.

Disclaimer: Traveling solo. Fifth time to Japan. Tokyo section not planned out as I have been there in previous trips. Plan to just walk around and do some shopping. Currently, KIV showa kinen park or any festivals going on at the time. Due to golden week, not traveling far.

For alpine route, how come need to collect hand carry luggage since u already sending main luggage to Tokyo? Y not just bring a backpack? Note that u need to send in ur luggage before a certain time in order to collect it within the same day from the other end of the route.

For Hitachi seaside Park, if u taking tour, there is one that covers both Hitachi seaside park and ashikage park for wisteria

Hi all, need some help. Is it feasible to travel to Osaka - Kyoto - Tokyo in 14 days? Never been to Japan before. Going in mid May 2019 in a group of 7 lazy ass. And also, Airbnb vs Hotel, which one will be better? Thanks in advance!

Yes, u can split one week for Tokyo, one week for kansai.

U may want to get open jaw tickets, fly into Tokyo, depart from kansai Airport. Alternatively, u can get JR pass to cover the round trip from Tokyo to osaka and back.

Wow.. So detailed!
Just dun be too fixated with following the timing and have some flexibility.

Also, not that shops may not open so early in the morning. For example, yodobashi only opens at 9:30am. Daiso may not open at 8am also, so maybe can go meiji shrine first

Rainbow Bridge and statue of liberty is nicer at night

Actually 1 night or 3 nights, the difference is only the number of sets of clothes. And for those places, weather likely to be cold, so dun really need to change clothes so often. So for me it is likely to be just one extra set of clothes. Probably a 20-30litre backpack shld suffice

Okay thank you! But some change of plans to 7-8 days @ Tokyo instead, haha! Because 14 days too ex! Anyway, any recommended Airbnb or hotel to stay in Tokyo? Which area is the best to stay?

Yup. I too went to Chubu in April without my luggage for 4N (Noto Peninsula > Toyama > Alpine Route), just a North Face waterproof normal sized backpack (similar to Outdoor bag). My clothes together with the mister’s plus two thermal flasks, he was carrying all his camera equipment. Well of course, I don’t have whatever most ladies carry - cosmetics and skincare products.

i dun really like waterproof ones, coz my experience with waterproof backpacks is that the waterproof layer on the inside will flake off after some years. so maybe just get those that comes with a rain cover

I would be travelling from 16 May thurs (red-eye till fri) to 23 May thurs. I dun mind extending till Fri or Sat return provided got somewhere to explore the whole day. Places to go are not firm yet but areas should most likely be firmed le.

Day 3:
Ueno / Asakusa - Sensoji temple
Tokyo skytree
akihabara
(need to add 1 more place here to make up a whole day trip if nth much to see in Ueno)
(Should i add ikebukuro in here? Wun take a lot of time in akihabara anyway even when im a small time anime fan.)

Day 4:

Mario gokart - start & end near tokyo tower
Tokyo Tower - one piece attraction
(May need to add 1 more nearby area in this day)

Odaiba and Ikebukuro is end-to-end. I would rather go Odaiba as I dont feel Ikebukuro has anything unique to offer. It is unofficially known as the chinatown of Tokyo but without the chinatown deco and feel like Yokohama.

Roponggi is known for its night life like bars and cafes. Personally I would skip this and rather go to Kamakura, Yokohama, Takao, or Kawagoe.

Roppongi is more of a night spot, so can visit at night after Tokyo tower. Wat time is ur Mario kart and how long will it take?

Probably a bit packed to put odaiba and ikebukuro on the same day, because the shops in ikebukuro dun open so early. Odaiba is nicer at night when the statue of liberty and rainbow Bridge lights up. Unless u dun plan to spend too much time at each place

Heard a bit abt yokohama, i will see what is there to explore and maybe put a day/half day trip there.

Reason i want go roppongi is coz its near to gokart place. Planning to drive for 2 hrs around 5-7pm or 4-6pm. So i need a place to explore till then.

How abt Tokyo tower and one piece theme park in the afternoon before the Mario kart, then Roppongi after?
