Japan Sample Itinerary thread

Hi all, will be in Tokyo end May for 8 days, staying at Ueno. Appreciate your advice on which places should be avoided from massive crowd during Fri and weekend.

Day 1 Fri Land at 8am
- Walk ard in Narita airport till ard 12pm or earlier
- Check in hotel
- Tokyo station character street
- Akihabara
- Tokyo Tower

Day 2 Sat
- Shibuya (109, Parco, Cat Street, Kiddyland, Tower Records)
- Nakano Broadway

Day 3 Sun
- Snoopy museum
- Yokohama

Day 4 Mon
- Shinjuku (shopping for clothes) or Hakone

Day 5 Tue
- Ueno (zoo, Ameyoko)
- Nippori Fabric town (buy fabric)
- Ikebukuro (maybe maybe not?)

Day 6 Wed
- Kamakura+ Endoshima

Day 7 Thur
- Shinjuku (shopping again?)

Day 8 Fri
? Any ideas?

Day 9 Sat
Flight home early morning

Have you checked the operating hours for Tsukiji Outer Market? It’s the Golden Week from 29 April to 5 May.

Any advice on planning my up coming trip

I got no concrete plan yet flying 30th April - 9th May

So far first day i fly in would touch down at 2150hrs.

So my 1st day basically start the next day. its my partner first time in tokyo.

Staying at Shinjuku area till 30th - 3rd
1st. - Disney Land
2nd. - Shinjuku walk about

Staying at Akasaka area till 3rd - 5th
3rd. - tsukiji market ( do you all recommend toyosu market? )
4th.
5th.

Staying at Yokohama Over Night 6th - 7th
6th -

Staying at Shibuya area 7th - 9th
7th. - Shibuya walk about & Shibuya Sky
8th.

So far nothing much planned out yet don't want to rush to much as well.

Confused me also. Usually hotel checkin time is 3pm.

But still can always go to the hotel and try luck if can get a early check in. if not also can do registration first and head out to start the day instead of wasting time at the airport.

I messaged my hotel in Tokyo with request for early check in. Reply was will try but can't promise. I arrived at hotel at 11am, can check in immediately for jpy5000 fee.

I just put a buffer of 1.5hrs for immigration clearance and luggage collection, walk around the shops, take an early lunch, collect skyliner tickets, top up suica card.

Of course will leave earlier for the city when the above all done, as I can check in at 2pm or leave my luggage at the hotel if arrived early.

Have not been to Tokyo for 10yrs, previous time was with my mum and aunt, so did not get to explore the airport.

It's normal that some hotel charge an early check in fee. since its $40 - $50 can get a room to freshen up and quickly head out to enjoy the holiday still worth it in my pov.

there are some hotel that also gives early check in for free depends on luck.

Yes going up early after 15th then return to Toyama after kurobe Dam.
Day 6 - 9 based in Toyama.
Fukui and Takaoka just taking shinkansen for fun. look look see see.

ok thought u doing full route, but still an 8 hours journey. i think still winter in murodo. enjoy!

Did u look into flying directly to Osaka instead of Tokyo?

Shinkansen train between Osaka n Tokyo not cheap.

Plan for Haneda airport as nearer to Tokyo also.. Ya, JR pass seem expensive too.. still seaching around.

Why not skip Osaka/Kyoto?

Stay in Tokyo for the whole trip. Do another trip by flying direct to KIX.
