Plan for Haneda airport as nearer to Tokyo also.. Ya, JR pass seem expensive too.. still seaching around.
If haven't book, go for Haneda/Narita and return from Osaka, way better. Return JR for the 2 cities is easily $300 already. NRT is not as near, but still easily accessible from Tokyo.

For one pax stay hostel or internet cafe.

Can ask chatgpt or bard to create custom itinerary based on your interests.

People share with your still have to customize.

Hello everyone, currently thinking of spending 4 days in Osaka and probably 4 days in Kyoto. The longest duration of the the JR West Pass is 4 days based on my check in Klook. So I assume I'll just got to purchase 2 x 4 Days JR West Pass right?

Where are you heading to everyday? Why do you need a pass? There’s commuter train lines between the two cities, less than an hour’s journey.

I only used my IC card throughout my last trip in Nov, 2 weeks in Osaka/Kyoto and 2 weeks in Shiga/Fukui.

for Osaka get the OA pass from klook if u plan sightseeing as it consist of the metro pass for that day.
Price has went up considerably, used to be about $36 last year. Even then metro pass might not cover all the stations as some lines ain't part of metro. Still good value if one is able to visit at least 2 attraction per day.

To be honest, haven't really plan out an itinerary. Probably flying in to Kansai Airport. As I'll be travelling with a 1 year old child, wouldn't want to rush exploring Osaka and Kyoto hence the thoughts of spending 4 days in Osaka and 4 days in Kyoto. So actually an IC card would be sufficient to travel around Osaka and Kyoto? That would also mean I'll have to get Shinkansen tickets separately to travel between Osaka and Kyoto if I wish to travel using the bullet train?

First time to both cities? Bullet train ride one way just for less than 15min?

I feel it’s not gonna worth the journey and cost (¥3,080 for train ticket with reserved seating). You need to do a transfer at Shin-Osaka, not Osaka station. Plus you won’t feel the fast speed for such a short distance.

Direct train service from Osaka to Kyoto takes about 30min and costs ¥580 one way.

With a toddler, I’ll take it REAL slow. We went with a friend, his wife and a barely 2-yr old in Tokyo many years ago for meals and DisneySea. The pace was really slow, they had to take turns to feed the little one and have their meals.

There’s enough attraction spots for the whole family in both cities. Have a break in between days, chill at shopping malls or cafes. Cakes, desserts, street food, etc.
