i have been to tokyo 3 times already and for my trip this june, i am going to buy the kanto pass and explore the surrounding area. will be in tokyo for akb48 events on the 29th may and hopefully some concerts on the 6 and 7 june. in the days in between, any good area to recommend for me to go?

thinking of going enoshima/kamakura, izu, ibaraki, maybe karuizawa or kawagoe.
if there are any other places or itinerary tt i can follow, please recommend.

also any good recommendation for accomodation for a solo person is highly welcome. i can speak japanese pretty fluently so even if the website is in japanese, it is not problem at all.
this is my itinerary for ibaraki. full report here:

hakone better to stay overnight to enjoy the onsen. so shld cater 1.5 -2 days.
u only have 2 days for tokyo.. not enuf to cover the main attractions. would be good if u can have one more day for tokyo.

so far all the accommodation i have been to have power outlets, so not an issue to charge devices.

since u have no credit card, then better buffer for more cash. u can refer to my thread on how to budget for the trip:

Dont get Ace, the basic plan doesn't cover lost equipment. I dropped my GoPro clone into the river, they said not cover. I checked around, Income said cover things like this.

Hi all, I'm looking to travel to Kansai area. Here is my suggested itinerary.

1) Reach Osaka at night(taking SQ)
2)Osaka
3)Osaka
4) Himeji & Kobe(at night)
5) Nara
6 and 7) Kyoto
8) Osaka or kyoto depending. Flight back to SG at 2330.

Some questions. Since I should be travelling alone( or with 2 friends max) I dont know if I should stay in Osaka for all nights, or move to Kyoto after 4th night.
Pro (more flexibility in switching around the places I want to go, con is cost of the train tickets)

I'm also looking at Osaka Amazing 2 day pass for 3000yen. and JR west 1 day for 2060 yen, and Iocca and Haruka pass for 4060 yen, but I'm not sure if the kansai 3 day pass(5200) is worth it( Since I calculated, Osaka to Nara(to and fro) = 1100 yen , and Osak to kyoto (4 trips = 1600 yen).

Thanks all for helping.

train between osaka and kyoto is relatively cheap at 560yen one-way. i personally will prefer to base the entire stay in osaka for a few reasons:
- no need to change hotels and move luggage around
- more things to do at night after sunset coz there are lots more shops and eateries in osaka
- easier to find cheaper hotels in osaka

u can read up on the assessment of the various pass on japan-guide:
JR Kansai Area Pass

the osaka pass is useful if u are visiting those attractions that is free or discounted with the pass. do a calculation and see if it is worth it to get pass or just buy normal tickets to get around

JR west pass will be useful to cover ur trip to himeji

icoca+harukas ticket is good if u are travelling from airport to kyoto, otherwise it is not worth

i have came up with a rough itinerary for my June trip.

29th May - Reach Haneda at 7pm. Check in at central plaza hotel in yokohama
30th - go for AKB48 even at pacifico yokohama and if got time go ramen museum and police coast guard museum
31st - go Kamakura day trip
1st - Buy JR Kanto pass go Karuizawa or Kawagoe ( which one is nicer? )
2nd to 3rd - Go Izu ( anyone got itinerary for Izu? also anyone with recommendation on lodging? )
4th - One Piece Tokyo Tower, watch Takarazuka in Tokyo
5th to 6th - Buy Hakone Free Pass and stay in Hakone onsen and then go for AKB48 sousenkyo event hopefully if i manage to get the ticket
7th - Go for Nogizaka46 event in the morning at pacifico yokohama and hopefully Ayumi Hamasaki concert in the evening. Go Cup noodle museum if there is time
8th - Shopping and flight back in the evening from Narita Airport.

Hopefully ppl here can recommend me some itinerary for Izu and recommendation for accomodation there.

Wah engshing, almost got an Akira shocku until I reaffirmed my mock itinerary plans retrieved from my phone. Just to give a kind heads-up since you might have been busy with planning yr upcoming trip and might have forgotten abt venue details for the May 30th event since I'll also be attending on the same day as well, the AKB48 event is at Tokyo Big Sight instead of Pacifico Yokohama. Think you may have to change and sort out yr planning again for the 29th and hotel accommodation if you have already planned/booked ahead in advance.

For your trip to Izu Penisula on June 2nd/3rd, unfortunately I have never been to Izu before so I'm unable to advise you on lodgings/accommodation wise. However a quick check on Japan-guide yielded info that for Izu the well-known city locations are Atami, Ito and Shimoda for that area, so I think since these areas are pretty well-known for their outdoor springs, I am quite sure you will not have any issues with finding ryokans for your staying plans there.

Good luck with yr planning and hope to see you around on the May 30th! Will most likely get in touch with you agn soon before I leave SG on the 29th.

OMG, almost made a fatal mistake with the location. My hotel accomodation is still ok. Going to Big Sight from my hotel accomodation is pretty fast as it is at Tsurumi Station. just 4 stops away to reach the rinkai line. I purposely pick there so as to go Tokyo and Yokohama very quickly.

My 1st to 3rd is still not fixed at the moment. Thinking of places that I have not been to. Since I am going to a hotspring at Hakone already, dun know whether I should go hot spring again at Izu. I am now just hoping I can get the sousenkyo and the ayumi tix only

have u check out the 2 threads I shared with u in ur other thread? there are plenty of itineraries there, just mix and match wat u like.

and it is still a long way to sept, so u have lots of time. y not try planning the itinerary yourself? it is going to be a lot more fun to plan it yourself and go to places u enjoy coz everyone's interest is different.

u can take a look at dimitri_can's thread on how to plan the trip. we will help u along if u have difficulties

kugayama seems quite out of the way and u will need to transfer trains for almost every where u are going.

for hakone, u can refer to this:
http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e5210.html

it is better to stay a night at hakone to enjoy the onsen and have time for cover more.
best to set out as early as possible if u wanna do a day trip because of the travel time needed. it takes 2hrs by train to reach Hakone from Shinjuku if u are using the hakone free pass. u can pay extra to take the faster Romance Car which takes 1.5hrs.

[it takes 3hrs to get from Tokyo to Osaka. so by the time u reach Osaka, it is already 7-8pm. probably no time to explore much]

Day 2 – 1st Nov
Osaka – Kyoto

Day 3 – 2nd Nov
Osaka – Nara

Day 4 – 3rd Nov
Osaka – Kobe & Himeji

Day 5 – 4th Nov
Osaka – Mt Koya

Osaka – Hiroshima / Miyajima

Day 8 – 7th Nov
Hiroshima – Hakone

Day 9 – 8th Nov

Day 10 – 9th Nov
Tokyo
• Studio ghibi

Day 11 – 10th Nov
• Ueno
o Ueno Park
o Ameyoko Street
• Asakusa
o Sensoji temple
• Akihabara

Day 12 – 11th Nov

Day 13 – 12th Nov
• Ikebukuro
o J World
o Pokemon Center

Day 14 – 13th Nov
• Zojoji Temple
• Tokyo Tower
• Roppongi
[dun think u need a whole day for these places. u can probably cover them in one evening]

Day 15 – 14th Nov
11.10am flight to Singapore
some comments above.

I would suggest reducing the Kansai portion of the trip by 1 day so u can squeeze everything within a 7-day JR pass.
otherwise, if u are not planning to get the 7-day JR pass, then I suggest spending more time in Kansai since u have not been to Kansai and Kyoto and Osaka needs more than a day each to cover them properly
