If it is ur first trip to these places, i will suggest either osaka + kyoto +hiroshima, or tokyo + hokkaido.
Too rush to do so many places

ya i agree with evilerniex..
i went to hokkaido during winter 11 days and only manage to cover half the map..

i think its possible but will be very rush and end up probably you will miss out a lot of things.

Need some advice on itinerary.

D1: Arrive airport late evening -> go Kyoto -> sleep
D2: Fushimi Inari -> Nishiki Market -> Yasaka Shrine -> Kodaiji Temple -> Kiyomizudera -> Gion
D3: Arashiyama -> Tenjyuri Temple -> Nijo Castle -> Pontocho
D4: Osaka Castle -> Shinsaibashi -> Dotonbori
D5: Kobe
D6: Yamazaki -> Osaka Museum of housing & living -> Tenjinbashisuji -> den den town
D7: Kuromon Market -> Kaiyukan Aquarium -> Shopping around Osaka/Umeda
D8: Nara -> Last Min Shopping
D9: SG

Going with parents, will this itinerary be ok? Or too packed? Free and Easy Trip. Going on Golden Week period.

Thank you all!
since it is golden week, be prepared for the crowd. Generally ur itinerary is ok. just play by ear, be prepared to drop some places if u dun have enuf time

Do book ur accom asap if u haven't done so.

Suggestions for free and easy

Hi all!

SO and I will be travelling to Tokyo in late april, arriving on 24th in the morning and leaving on 5th May at night, both at Haneda.

Primarily our thoughts are to stay around Tokyo, but since it's free and easy we're happy to travel out a bit to surrounding regions. Accommodation is settled via an apartment at Shinakawa Chuo, and it's fine if we have to leave it empty for a night.

Primarily the places we'd think we'd like to visit are:

Sightseeing/Entertainment:

- Disney Sea
- Cup noodles museum
- Shibuya Crossing/ Hachiko (just for the heck of it and its fine if we don't :s13:)
- Akihabara
- Tokyo Ueno Zoo?
- Tsukiji Fish market (but not for the auctions - too early!)
- Senso ji
- Ginza
- Shinjuku
- Asakasa (less touristy area?)
- Mount Fuji / Hakone (possible?)
- Gotemba Premium outlets?

Food:
- Midori Shibuya sushi
- Dominique Ansel bakery
- Tsunahachi tempura
- gomaya kuki
- kaneko hannosuke tendon

What are the other must do's you'd add?

Also, we're thinking of spending a night in an onsen ryokan - something high on her priority. Anywhere you'd recommend which is decent and affordable/ value for money? Fully aware of the higher prices generally.

Thankful for any leads/ suggestions!

For mt fuji, u can go lake kawaguchi for the view. Hakone is slightly further, but still a popular place for viewing mt muji.

Gotemba and hakone are near each other. U may want to stay a night in hakone in an onsen ryokan, so u dun have to rush back and forth from tokyo. U can purchase the hakone free pass for traveling to and ard hakone and gotemba.
There is also a fuji hakone pass if u are heading to lake kawaguchi as well. I would suggest 3 days there if u plan to go lake kawaguchi, hakone and gotemba

Thanks for the lead on kawaguchi! I googled and it looks lovely - seems to be easy to get around too.

yes am thinking of staying away from the tokyo accomodation for 1 night, so maybe kawaguchi is a good place. Head out in the morning on one day, and then return on the next day - works you reckon?

Thanks!

since u are going hakone as well, u may want to do both together, probably 3 days 2 nights for kawaguchi + hakone + gotemba. get the fuji-hakone pass which covers the transport there and back from shinjuku, as well as to get around.

Actually the intent is to travel out to one place only, which was gotemba. But now kawaguchi came up perhaps just that alone.

. That's a problem now, didn't realise it was golden week! With a lot of places even with the budget one can't get a room :(

shouldn't have an issue as long as budget is not a concern. I'm returning home at the start of the golden week :D

what u mean by how?

for the 'where', accom on the northern shore of the lake will be good, coz u can see the view of mt fuji with its reflection in the lake. southern shore will be nearer to the train station though

personally i would prefer to stay a night in hiroshima coz quite a bit to cover in hiroshima and miyajima. u may want to consider visiting himeji castle as well.

for ghibli museum, do get the ticket in advance coz it will likely to be sold out by the time u get to japan.

yes, doable.
wat are ur plans for nagoya? coz it is a bit out of the way, compared to the rest of the places u are going. maybe add in some other places in Chubu since u are going to nagoya?
how many days will depend on wat u want to do there. probably a week to 10 days will be good.

possible to fly into hakodate airport instead? that will save u quite a bit of driving.

for the 2 itinerary, the difference is just niseko? niseko is a ski resort, but since are not going in winter, i am not sure if there is anything else to see.

u will have to plan ur driving route and see if u need to use the expressway. i have not driven in hokkaido, so not familiar with the roads there.

Nice itinerary! Do check out studio Ghibli museum tickets online. Last I checked quite a lot of days sold out. Also pricey in case you're not aware.
