if want to go kyoto 3 days, is it better to stay at kyoto 3 days or commute everyday from Osaka to Kyoto dialy? :s11:

I prefer to stay in both cities. Both have different cultures and its interesting to experience both. But if you have lots of luggage, kids or elderly, than staying in one location is more convenient.

maybe stay both osaka and kyoto? travelling 3 days to kyoto probably negate any time saved from sticking to one location for accomodation.
or maybe stay throughout in kyoto? how many days in osaka are u planning?

Since u got 11 days, u can stay both places. So u can experience both.
Or u can base in osaka to cover osaka, Kyoto, Nara etc. Then travel elsewhere and stay a few days in some onsen ryokan.

anyone tried this day trip to kyoto?
http://traveltojapan.hankyu-travel....php?p_course_id=Y006Z1&p_hei=99&p_baitai=8865

my original plan is just bamboo groove, yhe scenic ride and box sushi at kyoto before go back osaka, but this one looks interesting too
I feel the tour is more for elderly ppl who have abit difficulty walking long dist. otherwise you can just do it at ur own pace, better?

Your box sushi is at Higashiyama side? most probably bamboo and the train will take up your morning to noon then u can do Kiyo in the afternoon and go down Fushimi before heading back.

It’s an ok itinerary. Day 8-10 seems a little rushed: from Takayama, need to travel to Toyama for Kurobe Gorge (the direct train/bus from Takayama to Toyama is infrequent) and Alpine Route itself takes about 6-7 hours one way, so it’ll be a full day of travel all the way to Matsumoto without much time there.

Maybe you could restructure the itinerary a little bit: Tokyo - Matsumoto - Kamikōchi day trip - Shinano Omachi - Alpine Route - Toyama - Kurobe Gorge day trip - Takayama - Shirakawago - Kanazawa - Kyoto - Nara - (Osaka?) - return to Tokyo.

Need Advise

Japan experts, can advise the following itinerary will it be very tedious or too pack for the travelling? We are 4 adults & a 1 yr toddler - 28 Nov to 10 Dec.
Day 1 : Arrive Narita airport at about 3pm
Day 2 : Bullet train Tokyo to Kyoto
Day 3 : Kyoto
Day 4 : Kyoto
Day 5 : Kyoto
Day 6 : Kyoto to Kawaguchiko or Hakone (to better view Mt Fuji)
Day 7 : Kawaguchiko to Tokyo
Day 8 : Tokyo
Day 9 : Tokyo (Disneyland)
Day 10 : Tokyo (Disneysea)
Day 11 : Tokyo
Day 12 : Tokyo
Day 13 : Tokyo
Day 14 : Tokyo to Singapore

Only concern is the day 6 - 7. Is it very "difficult" like too long a journey to travel from Kyoto to Kawaguchiko.

Another alternative will be to go to Karuizawa from Kyoto instead.

Waiting for advise and thank you.

Wow so many days for Tokyo! You can definitely do a lot and make many side trips. What are your interests for the trip though, any list of things to do or places to visit?

Will your group be using public transport, or driving? If public transport, JR pass for 2 weeks won’t have any cost savings since you’ll only need to use it on Day 2, 6/7, within city travel isn’t necessary. Even for JR 1 week Pass, you’ll barely hit the cost for a Tokyo-Kyoto round trip.

Kyoto to Kawaguchiko direct is not recommended, very long journey, and will need change of trains back in Tokyo, and another train down to Kawaguchiko. There are direct overnight buses though: http://bus-en.fujikyu.co.jp/highway/detail/id/9/

Kyoto to Karuizawa is equally long, need to backtrack to Tokyo then travel up.

You are better off travelling to Kawaguchiko/Hakone from Tokyo. Maybe spend 2 or 3 days there, enjoy onsen and sightseeing.

Ok thanks for highlighting. Will see we can change the Kawaguchiko schedule.
