Hi guys, I'm going to Tokyo for 5 nights in Jan next year with wife but because is only 5 nights, schedule a bit tight. Is the below ok?

Day 1
2.00pm Check in Hotel (Shinjuku area)
Studio Ghibli halfday tour
Dinner around Shinjuku
[may be difficult to get studio ghibli tickets for the same day when u arrive in japan coz need to purchase in advance]

Day 2
Tsukiji Market Seafood breakfast
Tokyo Station >Imperial Palace
Ginza
Shibuya
Harajuku
Tokyo Tower
[u can walk from tsukiji market to Ginza, then to Tokyo station and imperial palace. will be very rush to include harajuku and shibuya coz these 2 places typically will take up the whole day.]

Day 3
Odaiba (may skip if want to avoid Asakusa crowds)
Asakusa Shrine; Senso-ji Temple
Kappabashidori Shopping Street, Ameyoko
Ueno Park
Akihabara
[odaiba is nicer at night, so u may want to visit it if u have time after going all the places listed.
kappabashi lies somewhere between ueno and asakusa. u can walk from asakusa to kappabashi then to ueno]

Day 4
Day trip to Hakone

Day 5
Free and Easy

I think ur itinerary is too rush. most ppl allocate twice the number of days for the places u are covering in day 2 and 3. u may want to prioritise the places u listed and see which can be dropped it not enuf time

Hi evilerniex, we have decided to take a midnight flight from sg to tokyo. So we will be reaching Tokyo at around 930am. We will proceed to to do a pre-check in at Disneyland Resort first.

Is it advisable that we go to asakusa after we are done with the pre-check in? If not which day should i place asakusa in? As i will like to spend more time at Odaiba. :)

what is pre-check in?
does it mean u go Disney resort to check-in and leave luggage at resort, then travel out to asakusa?

maybe u can consider putting luggage in lockers at train station instead of travelling back and forth.

alternatively, u can put asakusa in day 5 together with ueno since they are nearby. then u can have almost the whole of day 4 for odaiba

Thanks! I thought the travelling was a bit much also. Between Shibuya and Harajuku, which place is better for non-Ginza brand type products?

I'm thinking of giving up Ghibli for one of the shopping trips.

Think for Day 3 I'll go Ueno, Kappabashidori (is it worth the time?), Asakusa and then take the boat to Odaiba? Akihabara I still not sure if I should go also though I heard Japanese-brand electronics are cheaper there.

Eh ya. leave my luggage at resort then travel out to asakusa. Cause we will arrive at haneda airport, so will be taking the limousine bus to disneyland resort. Coz the room will only be ready at 430pm so i am thinking is there any place i can go while waiting for the room to be ready :)

I think Shibuya is for young people, harajuku for teenagers. But these places are big, you have to narrow down on what you want to see/buy and go straight to the malls/shops, if you do window shopping aimlessly only, your legs will "gio tolong":)

Haha.. considering my wife and i don't fall into either categories, I think I'll go:

Day 1: Harajuku on Day 1 around 3pm to skim the place until evening,
Day 2: Tsukiji (7am), Ginza (10am), Imperial Palace (12pm), Shibuya (1pm, also skim till evening) and Tokyo Tower in the evening.

Day 5: On the last day (F&E) we can decide where we want to go most to spend the day for souvenir shopping.

Think that might be less tiring? We'll probably have to take a lot of coffee breaks along the way though.

You should swap Palace with Ginza, most shops are not yet open until its 11am over.

10 days is enuf to cover the main attractions in these places. u can have 1 day osaka, 1 day nara, 2 days kyoto and 6 days tokyo.

however, personally i will prefer to just stick to tokyo and 1 or 2 sides trips such as to hakone or yokohama. u will be able to explore more and at a more leisurely pace. it is also more economical coz it is quite expensive to travel from tokyo to osaka and back.

i find the shops in kappabashi quite interesting. anyway, u probably wun need a lot of time for kappabashi coz it is just one stretch of shops. an hour or so shld be sufficient for kappabashi.

are there any specific electronics u are planning to buy? make sure the product have english menu and international warranty if buying. alternatively, u can visit yodobashi camera dept store in ueno or shinjuku to look at electronics if u dun wan to go akihabara

Checked from Japan-Guide.com, from Tokyo Station to Asakusa was as below:
From Tokyo Station
Take the JR Yamanote Line to Kanda Station (2 minutes, 140 yen) and transfer to the Ginza Subway Line for Asakusa (10 minutes, 170 yen).

If in this case, can i travel from Disneyland resort to Tokyo Station then to Asakusa on my 1st day?

yup, u could.
u can search on hyperdia how to get from maihama(disneyland) to asakusa:
HyperDia | Timetable and Route Search in Japan.

alternatively, u can consider visiting Tokyo station + Ginza, since there is direct train from Maihama to Tokyo, and Ginza is walkable from Tokyo station.

Can, but you will spend quite a bit of time on travelling. Kyoto some other time?

7 days in Tokyo and its surrounding is more comfortable and practical.
