for me, its more for interest than career...
interest in the sense of appreciating the culture and better communication with my friends / colleagues / staff in Japan.
career in the sense as i am in the robotics field so technically i usually have to deal with products or technology from Japan.

I have once completed the beginner japanese course but due to my busy work schedules, I have given up the studies. actually I am interested in japanese languge and hope one day I can read japanese story books or magazines but may I know which level should I attain at least in order to achieve that?

placement test is on 9th Dec... Enrolment is on 5th Jan...
if u have certification (JLPT, etc) is on 6th jan...

u need advance II class or JLPT 2 equalivent.....
Does this mean I need this level in order to read Jap Manga as well?

i believe thats the minimum, and u need 2 know some slang also...
what are the 2 jap slang called? will these be taught in any of the jap course?

ehh, i mean u need TO know some slang...
slang is not taught in jap course i believe, most jap schools teach textbook japanese..
slang u need 2 pick up from immersing in the culture and knowing some japanese well enough...
however, with JLPT 2 standard, I believe u will able to understand at least 75% of wat the manga is talking about...
