Seems like every week I have a reason to go to E1 :s13:

Will like to try it even though I'll probably never buy it, it's just too expensive.

Brief impressions:
Both of them is a breakthrough from the usual JH house sound, eliminating their usual sibilant treble, to a much smoother signature.

JH Layla - Extremely wide staging. Clarity is great. Bass is too much for me at MAX config. To conclude, it is worthy of being JH's new flagship. But for that price (S$3.4k) There are better price:value earphones out there. Not to mention that the shell of the Lay is humongous (Definitely the biggest universal earphone shell I've seen)

JH Angie - Slightly laid back signature with great clarity at the same time, mids are sweet, Bass is enjoyable and tolerable even at MAX config. Pricing at S$1.5k SGD and considering the price:value. This will be a great seller of JH.
Shell is still humongous, but slightly smaller than the Layla. To conclude, this is by far my favourite JH earphones to-date.

Nevertheless, as I have too many earphones. NO, I will not get it unless there is a 50% discount sales :s8: (Might consider getting customs instead looking at the size of the UIEM)

How about the soundstage of Angie?

Staging of Angie very much smaller than the Layla. It is obvious when you A/B them. But for me, the staging is kinda "too wide" for me. I felt that the Angie is a much more enjoyable one.

Yes, there is an intimate feel to the Angie.

Tried them today... Better impressions from roxanne... Not so gao but both were still bit sibilant for me, with the Layla stinging more nicely lol. Angie sounded more fun and Layla mids abit too forward satuating my ears at times. Both had a typical JH "pinched" treble (from my experience of the roxanne demos and my previous JH13FP) which to me isn't my ideal realistic treble rendition. So... Both were no go for me. My favorite JHs are JH13 non-FP (Kenz's ciem) and my master's reshelled (my) 13FP :D

Quite different impressions from others huh... :D

Tried the new JH twin, Layla and Angie, yesterday. Very surprised (pleasantly) that the twins are a departure from the usual JH house sound that Jerry is so famed for.
My impressions as below, DAP used is DX100 with FLAC and WAV files.

Layla: Tonality is natural, open and slightly meaty. What strike me on first listen is the Hifi signature; the scale is grand and very un-iem like. Soundstage is extremely wide and deep, other than Fitear 435, is among the widest I've heard. Clarity is excellent.
Bass is deep and impactful. Mids is natural and beautifully rendered, and is so ever slightly forward sounding. Treble is well extended and generally smooth, but I can see why some might have issues with sibilance.

Angie: Tonality is slightly brighter compared to Layla. Still open sounding, but more neutral in a monitoring way. Soundstage is considerably narrower than Layla, but she still manages impressive depth. Clarity is excellent, as with Layla.
With Angie, bass is lighter in both quantity and impact, though still very enjoyable. Mids is cleaner and slightly more forward than Layla. Treble is quite extended, but crucially slightly smoother than Layla, thus, sibilance is reduced and is less likely to be an issue for most people.

The JH twins both have HUGE shells. Fit is ok with Angie, but with Layla, it's slightly uncomfortable.
Prat on both Layla and Angie remains rather quick as you would expect from JH, but the basic signature has changed. The twins, though still sounding very slightly raw, has gained much more refinement compared to past models.

Friends around me know JH is not my favourite brand. Personally, I've always felt that JH lacks refinement that I look for in my IEMs.
That has changed today. I have found the first JH that I can truly I say I like. Her name is Layla.

treble sensitive in terms of quantity and how it sounds... more of a preference actually, instead of being sensitive. the real sensitive one is upper mids :D
