My incoming QD Leili costs less than 80dollars and almost 1/3 the pricing of western daily trainers like the Nike Vomero 18, novablast and rebel series. It is quite hilarious to see the irun Instagram page keep promoting local running influencers wearing those overpriced shoes
During my recent stadium run saw a couple wearing matching Superblast 2 colorway. Saw a few other Nike and ON too.

Assuming they are not wearing cheap knockoffs, i really do envy folks who got no qualms paying 300 bucks on a pair of shoes. But once you start getting into china brands, its becomes hard justifying paying stupid amounts on those established brands.

My 361 eleos looks, feels and runs like a hybrid of Novablast and Superblast and i paid a mere $40 for it. Even if they are not half as durable compared to a pair of Superblast, my heart and wallet also no pain throwing them away and moving on to some other pair of china shoes.

Alternate view, Strength not much help. Moderate to high intensity cardio for longer duration helps. From DR IDZ. Ultimately I think regardless if you focus on strength, cardio or holistic, what matter the most is the exercise that can give consistency all the way.. For me, after going thru all the holistic way of doing strength and cardio combo of various type, including activesg gym season pass, outdoor running is the only sport that keeps me going.

Strength training whether at home or in the gym is so mind numbingly boring. Outdoor running can take in the sights and sounds and more importantly, if lucky can beo pretty zeh zeh along the route. But best to do a mix of both strength and cardio instead of exclusively focusing on one type.

Same as every hobby you are involved in.

Worth it or not is dependent on the person spending. If buying more expensive shoes can keep one motivated,I think is definitely worth it haha.

The DPRK fella. 2:13. no need gel.

Same as that one JP pro runner which Run To Japan (Jake) featured and interviewed before, hardcore also no need gel. Trained until fat oxidation rate way up there.

Actually he did mention in the vid that the first method of High frequency strength training only result in really modest results for visceral fat reduction but is not the MAIN reason why he prescribes this strength training.

It is more for reducing or even build muscle while losing fats. Coz if not while losing fat mass, the muscle mass also gets reduced. He did mention that his clients while technically did lose fats % as confirmed via DEXA scans, they also lost muscle, which is also reflected in new lower resting metabolic rate (image below), ie not buring as much energy at rest coz of less muscles than before.

I sorta did kena this back in 2023 i think. MY weight was 56-57 only, think that time you also mentioned about my 10k time of iirc 38 min++ (GPS) and i was running long runs till my joints hurted at 17-18km. Visually stick thin and minimal muscles iirc though the muscles were still visible. I mean i did strength, but not the "real" strength stuff that i am doing nowadays.....as in weighted dips and deadlights/squats or stuff like that and till near failure or even past failure and trying to actively gain muscle.
My weight now is 72kg vs 56-57kg then....not sure about 10k timings now but joints/feet metarsal bones sure pecah one, though i have 3k timings to refer to. 🤣 (and yeah i remember that time i was also struggling to do even 10-15 push ups first time when i tried pushups, before i decided that this might not be the best approach for fitness overall).
And of coz, for cycling, the strength part really can help, and usually also coz it is not evenly paced in real life here.

Yes, they have, but if not really giving you issues and you are happy with your progress, not important to do.

You will always be faster speed wise haha :)

I think also wee bit more body fat nowadays for me compared to 2 yrs ago

Short dist nia..... heck even for cycling i dont go long distances per session compared to other cyclists....just frequent sessions. Those long slow high number of hrs (> 4 hrs) i also find it quite hard vs my kid.....like last Sun 9hrs with breaks, longest session yet but only 136km, my kid night time said can go out again if i want, i was totally wasted.
(Sat relatively short at 50+km)
I think maybe kids got really fast recovery, their 8-12hrs is like my 24hrs
