4th place Amos Kipruto 2:01:39, damn damn fast also.

2018 Berlin, Kipchoge set WR then with same timing of 2:01:39

After which Kipchoge broke his own WR with 2:01:09 in Berlin 2022

Which then Kiptum broke with 2:00:35 in Chicago 2023

Actually before 1:50 mark (1:48-1:49), it wasnt that Kiplimo slowed down. It's the 2 bros who went VTEC and kiplimo could not match esp with this tunnel upslope.

Visually, my guesstimation is that this is not the type of gradient that here in SG we have our tunnels at, but still it is significant (esp at this late stage of race), cyclists would fully know this feeling with tunnel upslopes.
You really need POWER to maintain the speed (or most people just use momentum and then slow down when upslope).

Ok, finally found a full broadcast vid.

@ 1h 50 mark at the tunnel upslope where you can still see Jacob Kiplimo around 7-8 seconds away.

1h 40 min mark Kiplimo still 2-3 seconds beind.

Just Signed up the full marathon for BYD. final price $187.20 with early bird discount. The price included the baggage charge of $18. They don't recognized the 300km club anymore. sigh. CC payment didn;t go thru, so I used PAynow. Price increase is very significant from last year, $138, includes the $18 baggage.

This is one reason why I don't sign up for 2XU or Garmin runs,. If there is one expensive run for me, BYD SIM it si. Then it's only one other cheap race, which is likely the income eco run.

Many will complain, but in the end it will still sell out. LOL. That's why they are encouraged to increase price year after year. Also they are the only certified race for HM and FM. 10km still can find other certified course from SA or running clubs. So to truly PB in HM or FM, this is the only one in Singapore.

Literally all liquids. 115g/hr
Just 1 caffienated gel (100mg)

Breakfast only 2 pcs of bread + honey. Approx 50g of carbs for breakfast nia....just enough to top off the approx 70-80% glycogen empty liver overnight. (muscle stores would still be rather full)

First 5km hoot nutrition already.

If i am not wrong (havent go verified, just read about it), Kejelcha missed his last nutrition feed, and just 2 -3 mins after that he got dropped liao.

The Maurten research team was embedded with Sawe’s team in Kenya for 32 days across six trips between last and this April. They were training his gut to absorb that load by mimicking race-day protocol in training. The hydrogel technology they have developed over the past 10 years now allows athletes to absorb 90–120 grams of carbs per hour without GI distress. In addition to that, sodium bicarbonate is also used, essentially a blood buffer since it neutralizes the lactic acid buildup that causes the burning sensation in muscles during high-intensity effort. Sawe used both of Maurten’s products for it on race day. Taking the bicarb early is deliberate since it peaks in the bloodstream roughly 60–90 minutes after ingestion, so the timing of 2+ hours before the race would put peak buffering capacity right at the start.

Sawe told the media in the press conference that he had two pieces of bread and tea with honey as his breakfast before the race.

You can see the complete fueling protocol in the image.

That Correct..that is the only full marathon race held in sg. No more sundown already.

If I have to run overseas. I have to pay even more . Air fare / accomodations and don't even guarantee that I will be ready on race day ( jet lag / stomach ache etc)

For those who wants to play around with such things but no $$$ for Maurten bicarb system, can try beta alanine. Nearly the same performance. Get from iherb

edit - the studies were also "only" studying 800m, 5k up to 10k distances. Threshold and that kinda higher level RPE kinda stuff. So we know that potentially for FM even (or the equivalent > 100km cycling rides) also high possibility might benefit, as long as you are fit enough and can/willing to push enough.

I am using this. Simply coz cheapest. 🤣
1.6g / day dosage ok liao

Been taking for nearly 2 years now. No issue with "paresthesia", supposedly a tingling side effect.
But once i did overdose like 10-20g, not sure......i overpoured the stuff into my mouth directly (dry scooping but more like bottle scooping, by mistake) and after that i nearly puked in office coz stomach wierd feeling, as i took during my lunch time at home. After 3-4hrs of wierd feeling, ok liao.

Weather also. Yesterday the rain from 12+pm threatened T100 100k distance for the age groupers esp the slower bikers/runners. But lucky was no lightning. Imagine paying nearly 500 bucks for it and unable to complete the 18k run leg and so no timing.

If the rain started earlier, then would even affect the bike leg (dangerous, esp when cheonging down Sheares bridge)
