KEljecha 1:59:41
On his debut marathon and break sub 2. Actually it is quite remarkable . Unfortunately. His achievement is overshadowed by Sawe WR timing .

All the while . I thought sub 2 FM is out of reach since there is no one ran ever close to kiptum WR 2:00:35. Within the same day . 3 men broke it

The scary thing is Kejelcha’s first marathon and sub 2

I saw Kejelcha kissing Sawe's botak head the first thing he passed the finish line. Think one big part is Sawe's pacing and pushing him, hence can sub-2 + below Kiptum's 2:00:35

ps. I think Kejelcha also semi regurgitated (vomitted) and spitted some good amount of yellow fluids after congratulating Sawe, before Kejelcha dropping to the ground. Not the typical spitting.
The stuff in the stomach starting to come out liao.

Besides, Kejelcha also can run one lah. Before Kiplimo's new WRs for the half recently, Kejelcha held the WR, slower than Kiplimo by 10 seconds nia.

Adidas popping champagne for sure.
1) 2 X Sub 2h
2) 2 X WR

All in a shoe that just race debut.

Tiagong both camps emergency zoom meeting now on a Sunday liao.

One is meeting on how to milk. (Pro 5 trickle down tech?)
One is meeting on how to prevent further damage on the Alphafly 4.

At the 2026 London Marathon, held on April 26, 2026, Jacob Kiplimo wore a Nike prototype shoe.
Facebook
  • Shoe Details: The shoe is described as a "Nike Prototype" designed for the 2026 season and appears to be part of the next-generation development of Nike's elite racing platform (often referred to as Nike Dev 164 or the prototype stage of the Alphafly 4).
  • Performance: Kiplimo finished third in the race with a time of 2:00:28.
  • Context: While Sabastian Sawe won the race wearing the Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3, Kiplimo was part of the Nike elite team wearing the latest unreleased Nike technology.

At 40km, they were both side by sides. Need to watch 6 minutes the replay of the last 2.2 km.

Exciting chinese commentary starting from 1h 53min mark of the race.

What we really need is something at 1h 50 min, the upslope in the tunnel when Kejelcha and Sawe pulled away from Kiplimo

Actually i remember last year when we all read that he was attempting WR, we already knew that he is capable of WR if not going sub-2. Just that in Berlin 2025 (very fast course) back in Sep, it was very warm (above 25 deg C) and quite high 50-60% RH, but he still ran a 2:02:16
