My case was even closer than this........ie i was already at / past the middle line when the taxi reached the 2 lane crossing.
Doesn't make sense to stop coz no cars near you anyway when starting to cross, like in the below, when started to cross the merc would be like 10 car lengths away.

I just know that with my personal experience of driving/cycling (since 1995 no less), is legally need to stop.

Auntie stopped in time. Just be alert. I encounter before. Legal or not, bad driving or not, it's a bigger topic for the main forum where pedestrian and drivers chime in.

how to avoid being knocked down when going across zebra crossing? Sometimes, i jogging to approach the zebra crossing . I see vehicles slow down. Then i picked up my pace to cross and raised my hand. Suddenly, they also picked up their speed to turn left. Nearly kenna knocked. Encountered a few times already. They didnt see me and just slow down for the bend or what?
Just stop lo and wait for him to stop. The driver might swear at you but cannot hear mah since he inside the car. Then continue crossing lo. As long the car don’t stop, not safe to cross. Safety first.

Maybe it's coz im doing 20+ hrs weeks...... really see quite a lot of joggers/cyclists having bad habits.

Hence i find it esp apt info here for the others.

Wearing earpods being one. Really encountered too many.

T&F starting

Ingebrigsten inside.

2.20 pace

It's crazy if you think about it...... their pace is like nearly my sprint pace of 100m distance (2.05)
Or i can do a maximal sprint, and they'd catch me after like 200 metres.

Maybe they don't like your face ?

Usually if I see cars within 30m of zebra crossing or slip road, I will stop.

Drivers usually will flag to me to pass through regardless of zebra crossing or not.

Then I give a thumbs up because they stop even though no zebra crossing.

Watched the heat 3 around 5pm. Jakob Ing, played it cool, hang behind until just right before the bell, then speed up to take no.3 spot. Make it to the next round. Risky move, coz there was moment he might be blocked.

Just now while coming back, my left leg nearly got crushed.

Was already crossing more and at halfway zebra and then noticed taxi coming slowly. Apparently driver did not see me and was checking for traffic at RHS, so even tho i waved "thanks", he just continued. My leg was already in his direct path and i noticed he did not stop so i stopped and had to quickly jump backwards to avoid leg being crushed.
Body less than 0.5m from the taxi body when he crossed me. I could have just whacked his windows to give a piece of my mind on him.......but of coz i was too shocked and just intent of avoiding him. That "oh fcuk" realisation.

Heng was alert and i am the type of person who is always ready for such possible situations. I do not trust nobody on the streets nowadays, not even cyclists or joggers on PCNs (too many pax on mobile phones, earpods etc). Always be prepared for sudden unpredictable behaviour, when in doubt, always brake to nearly a complete stop coz less consequences if an accident shd happen.
Also why the youtube videos matter, coz i believe it always jogs our memory.

Was at this junction, cab confirm would need to be in lane (arrow), so for me i had already been crossing for half of the road already. ie i was there on the road way before the cab did (cars supposed to stop when pedestrians at the immediate sides of the road)

Thank goodness you’re ok and alert. Yeah that junction they always look right side only. I always make sure no cars then cross. Don’t dare take the risk

Yea suspect the fella was looking past me for the traffic on tg pagar road. Or maybe didn't even didnt even register there was a zebra crossing there. Closest shave i ever encountered before.

For us holding licence and with experiences (jogging / cycling,,,,,whatever) is one thing.
But for my parents and the young is another. Can only assume and hope that they will remember the advice. My wife shd be pretty ok.

I have already asked my father to use my clip-on lights front and rear at night time already, most of the time he uses as he walks over to my house a fair bit for errands, Coz he has MCI / mild cognitive impairment......but very mild one. I let him walk heckloads (on Puma Deviate Nitro 2s lol) coz that seems to have arrested his impairment.

Looks better this time round. But this is with cooling + past 3 nights very sufficient sleep of over 8 hrs.

If not i'd have tot training not working. Even though it's very slow.

Maybe will try 10k again soon and see how it goes (coz running weekly mileage of late not high, no more than 35k)

@Kuudere
Seems like there really is scientific evidence on heat training performance enhancement.

But i guess since it is warm all year round for us.....we gotta actively seek cool ways and conditions then if wanna reap the benefits. Our case here in SG is more like indirect. Lol

He ran comfortably at the back so that he can unleash his final 400m kick. After all, for his last olympics 10k, he lost to Barega because he got outkicked. Also, a lot of people wasn't expecting him to do well since he didn't run fast times in 2024. Takes the pressure off him to perform at his best.

Definitely, if you run TT in warm settings, at least you know this is the worst you can really perform. It gives more confidence to run faster when it's cooler. I am not too affected by it as long as I tried my best and executed my pace strategy for the distance, even though it might not be PB.
After 26min where the excitement begins. One of the runner final surge to cut a few runners to make it 2nd.
Whole bunch of runners make it sub 27.
Happy for the 2nd runner, since he got 4th in the last olympics. This time round, managed to secure 2nd.
