Actually that also brings me to this...... weekend warrior cyclists joining "group rides" be it weekeday or weekends. And as cyclists we all know how often those can turn out to be scam rides in one way or another, esp since if one goes around different groups. If stick to 1 close and well known group of close kakis then that is probably fine.
But cycling is esp notorious. Weekend warrior cyclists usually would not have sufficient conditioning / volume to do such things.
Unfortunately, upgrades can easily be bought, and then if the body is not ready to handle and everytime see attacks then also wanna react, the risks would be higher.

Running usually no such scam runs one. haha..... Even fartleks are seemingly controlled comparatively.
Unless if join parkruns and you are in super compeitive mode then yeah. OTher than that, the folks are usually more disciplined. So weekend warrior runners usually not exposed to such risks.
Ya cyclists usually try to push beyond limits to catch the draft. Running not so much, mostly at own pace and lesser pressure to keep in a group.

Wow...RIP.
Discussed many times in this thread before, athletes older than 35 esp post 40 better go screen. Usually sudden cardiac death is due to atherosclerotic coronary heart disease. Some > 50 also still chionging.,,,,better do,
$400 packages usually ok enough for those not at risk / symptomless. Can do every 5 years or so. Those at higher risk like higher BMI/high body fat % can choose those in the $800-1600 range.
Or some like to cycle to Malaysia right. Just cycle to Melaka as holiday to do lah. So much cheaper there at the private hospitals.

Outlook appearance can be deceiving or even self deceiving. Lean and muscular also cannot assume is healthy.

Apart from health reasons, I also stopped group rides for safety reasons. Most cyclists don't follow traffic rules. I ride on road for more than 3 decades no one can argue this point with me. Most drivers will stop at / wait for traffic lights even without other cars/people around, cyclists is the opposite. Even the compliant cyclists only obey rules 9 times out of 10 times. If ride in groups, even worse. Don't bullshiit that always follow rules.

Anyway I unofficially quitted group rides for more than half a year. Some friends are waiting for my return. But I only do solo, indoor or once in a blue moon do buddy ride. Got bike comp but never record any rides. Always defensive riding on the road, giving way to buses, and avoid going to WCH. TMCR also ride bicycle lane, taking own sweet time. Now running more than cycling perhaps. But then recently, brisk walk seems to be more suitable for me.

Yes, health not equal to fitness, just somewhat got relationship only. Most here would know, but there might be some who don't.

Not a sin to have cheat meals once in a blue moon, heck even occasionally is fine, but do watch what you eat at hawker centres. If possible do some intelligent supplementation, unless my math is totally wrong, there is no way can get what we need even from good portions of cai png, let alone those other types of hawker food.
Esp if you are training, increasing bone mineral density etc. The RDA is insufficient.

Once you have conditioned the walking muscles better and form/technique (efficiency), can dive into racewalking.
That time I managed to pass the old style grading IPPT 2.4 with racewalking (12:30 mins).
It's quite interesting to me, just that overall it's not as sexy as cycling or running.......
Coz if you are fit enough and trained enough, typical PCN joggers would be big-eyed when you are walking intervals that are faster than them even if they upped their pace. (of coz you wont be able to out run advanced hobbyist runners)

Women do around 4:30 min/km in pro races. Men around 4:00

You racewalk 50km is nearly something like running 2 full marathons, in terms of energy expenditure.
Is a true test of ultra endurance

Got 1 chiobu called Kimberly Garcia Leon

KNN Heat index temperature now 31 deg C. I think just go out later to do some zone 2 sua no mood.

And it will get to as high as 35-36 deg C (Heat index temp) in 2-3 months time.

Possible to buy/place a treadmill at home? Turn on aircon.

When you thought public urination happened only in the Singapore marathon, the world's most well-behaved culture faces the same issue.

Somehow home is not conducive for exercise for most people. I have several weights, abs roller at home that became white elephant eventually.

My treadmill less used these days. Probably once a week by my wife. Indoor bikes on average once a week. Dumbells 3 times a week. Resistance band (tubes) once a week. Some other equipment rarely or barely used. Luckily never buy chin up bar and dips bar.

personally i am someone who need a dedicated space/room for certain functions, eg. work out. if i don't have the space to workout, i wouldn't want the hassle to move things around to do so. Thats y i need to get out of my house. 😂

Pro jiu shi pro.

1.0 1-1 only for 70s 400m. Even at the 11th set with 30 seconds recovery.
That is 2:55 pace

edit
18th set 68 seconds (2:50 pace) still at 1.5 1.6. Siao man. Not even touching LT2 actually is very comfortably under

I tried running (ok first time) clocked around 65s on GPS 0.42km (possible that actualy distance is 0.4k, assuming GPS over-read), that's max effort oh s*** wanna die already .

True pros really no joke.

Of coz if go measure the Japs / Kenyans/ethiopians/ugandans is yet another level, but USA shdnt be that bad.

edit Liam's 3K is already 7:34 lol....... turbo.
