I read that those from pen E, had no hydration after 10km. Ran out of cups. Some had to take whole bottle and share.

Terrible organizer. Especially since they have been organizing this race for so many years. Hydration logistics is the most basic, need to get this right.

Asia’s Toughest Duathlon, Titan 77.7 Philippines back with Toughest Bike Route

https://www.asiatri.com/2024/09/asi...-7-philippines-back-with-toughest-bike-route/

Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga – September 15, 2024 – The highly anticipated Titan 77.7 Philippines, hailed as Asia’s toughest duathlon, is set to challenge endurance athletes once again in the heart of Clark Freeport Zone. Organized by GoClark Sports, this intense race will push participants to their limits with a demanding course featuring a 4km run, a 100km bike ride, and a final 21km run.

Participants in the full Titan 77.7 event will begin their race with a 4km run in picturesque Filinvest Mimosa+ Leisure City, offering a mix of false flats and shaded paths lined with acacia trees, creating a deceptively mild start. However, the real challenge begins with the 100km bike course, which features the Airport-New Clark City access road (ANAR). Duathletes will face over 1,000 meters of elevation, with several long and steep climbs that will test even the most experienced cyclists. This will be followed by a final 21km run, designed to truly test the endurance of athletes as they make their way to the finish line.

Hiker needs to be rescued from Mt. Fuji twice in five days for very dumb reason

After helicopter evacuation, college student returns to pick up something he left behind, gets himself stuck again.

Last Saturday, at around 12:50 in the afternoon, the Shizuoka Prefectural Police received a call alerting them that a hiker had collapsed on the side of Mt. Fuji, near the eighth station of the Fujinomiya Trail that leads to the summit. A rescue team was organized and dispatched, and after finding the hiker, a 27-year-old Chinese national who’s living in Tokyo while attending university, at an elevation of around 3,250 meters (10,663 feet).

The rescue team was able to transport the man partway back down the mountain to the trail’s fifth station, around 850 meters lower than where he was found, and turned him over to fire department staff, who diagnosed him as suffering from altitude sickness. Thankfully, because of the swift response by the rescue and medical personnel, the man’s life was not in jeopardy, and hopefully he learned a valuable lesson from the experience about the dangers of attempting to summit Japan’s tallest mountain outside of the official climbing season…especially since this was the second time he’d needed to be rescued from Mt. Fuji in less than a week.

It turns out that the same man had also been on Mt. Fuji four days earlier, on April 22. On that day he contacted emergency services from a point near the summit to say that he’d lost his crampons and was unable to descend from his position, and also that he was suffering from nausea, a telltale symptom of altitude sickness. On this day he’d gotten himself stuck in a spot so difficult to access that he ended up needing to be evacuated from the mountainside by helicopter.

▼ The April 22 rescue was performed under the jurisdiction of Yamanashi Prefecture emergency services, while the April 26 rescue was a Shizuoka Prefecture operation, sparing the man the embarrassment of his rescuers reacting with “Wait, it’s you again?”

But what could convince a man to return to Mt. Fuji so quickly after being stranded on the mountain? Did he have an irrepressible determination to prove to himself that he could conquer the mountain? A need to revisit the scene where he could have lost his life for some sort of cathartic closure? No, the reason the man made such a speedy U-turn back to Fuji was because he’d lost his smartphone during his April 22 hike, so he went back to look for it.

Actually dont want to rant one, but nearly crashed late last night.

4 cyclists side by side on the cycling lane but regulars would of coz know that it is still not really enough width and the last one had to cycle on the running/cycling demarcation line on Bay East Garden. (unless you are road cycling expert and so can tightly pack 4 side by side no issue).
So was heading dir toward Marina Barrage bridge and for safety when i saw that they aren't budging despite of 2 front lights + speaker music, i had to take evasive action and shifted into the running lane to avoid + at the same time slow down.

Rear tyre slid (Continental GP 5000s no less) while threshold braking and super heng that i already have the skills/instinct since the 1990s driving track days to immediately release brakes and then re-brake lighter again so regained control. Issue is that it was still a bit wet at the sides due to the leaves (think the leaves covered areas difficult to get dry) which has very little traction.
I think if running fast, it's the same thing should you make sudden maneuveurs.

Shouted at them when they passed and after a few seconds looking at them giggling and on the phone i really had a good mind to chase them down to try explain that it is a frigging dangerous thing to do....but. Haiz.

Am sure you all already know this, but I really dont know why the F runners/walkers/cyclists can be so engrossed on their frigging important phones and closed off headphone music that they are totally oblivious to their surroundings one.

Bonus

this is why I always keep left as much as possible when running outside, sick of cyclists veering to the middle when distracted

Actually it's pretty standard everywhere...... MRT long tunnels, escalators, shared paths also. Just keep left and everyone's fine. Even cyclists and runners on dedicated cycling lanes still ok if on the same lane coz the differential not super high even at 6:00 pace (10kmh) vs even 30kmh cyclist dont say 5:00 or 4:00 (15kmh) pace....just dont make sudden changes in direction. If going against direction, the speed differential is so much higher.
