Finished my race. Got so lost in the swim, kayakers tapped me to say course is way over that way. Overall quite ok for first open water swim in 15 years. Felt my runs were good though I cramped up while sprinting last 50m. Got overall 11th

Congratulations.

Wah now Nike also play boundary layer air resistance reduction liao.

Forsee $300-500 skinsuits with patterns coming liao (like in cycling). 🤣

Only thing is that cycling also targes socks and shoe covers and gloves and helmets and sleeves also.
Cheap/free trick is to just shove a bottle down your front, 1.5L is optimal but if not smaller also can.

Opps, i think they also playing sleeves and (tall) socks and gloves liao, all patterned + textured.
Maybe trickle down to shorter distances as well.
edit - not aero socks, but calf sleeves like what they use in ITTs and triathlons.

Week 1: 6 x 400 (90s)
Week 2: 7 x 400 (90s)
Week 3: 8 x 400 (90s)
Week 4: 9 x 400 (90s)
Week 5: 10 x 400 (90s)
Week 6: 3 x 800 (2 min) + 1.2k @ 2.4k pace on separate day
Week 7: 4 x 800 (2 min) + 1.6k @ 2.4k pace on separate day

Week 7 is the 2.4k predictor, I will run a lot slower when I run 800s. I am trying for 8.15, but the actual ippt will be slower, maybe under 8.30 or 8.35.
sick. what's your push up and situp like?

Knees were wobbling coz insufficient strength / power / over critical power / whatever.

xllms, too bad a bit far, actually it occurred to me it might be a good way to cross train as well. Esp if wear gloves so can use a bit of upper body for full workout.

If can hit Z2 power/HR for this at a decent pace, the whole GWC is your oyster liao.

quite appropriate, but really depends on which GW one is going and which section of the wall, as most are primarily walking only.
However, the crowd, distance and hassle, are deterrence to me
in my current situation, need alot more strength training before able to do z2 for GW 😂
but if i am to be back living in BJ, i may consider trying some trails at 金山岭 which is a popular venue for trail running and ultras.

Do it like cycling, off peak hrs like at 6am for Jiankou. Or 7am for BDL. Can try once in a lifetime when you taking AL. Imagine sunrise at GWC.
The flatter parts can do running. 😅
Can cycle there.....but of coz need cycling skills on the road.

If scared of downhill accidents, wear cycling helmet, soft type knee and elbow pads. Got hard body pads also....no joke, around $20+ on TB (ABS plastic). Need gloves also (thin ones ok), normal typical pax's reflex action to break fall with wrist.

not to burst your bubble but are you aware those are lifestyle shoes, not running shoes
actually doesn't quite matter, especially if the shoes do not cause any forms of injuries.
i believe most of us did plenty of running in Bata BM2000 or something similar when we were in our school days.

not sure if the roads from BJ city to Jiankao allows bicycles (maybe one needs to find alternative roads from using the highways), but i understand what you mean. But me not into cycling, perhaps more like my life context doesn't quite allow/encourage it. Overwhelmingly more push factors than pull factors. 😂
I have to admit BJ is one place suitable for cycling becos it is surrounded by mountains which makes cycling really fun especially if one enjoys the uphill, downslope terrain.
if i am to do cycling in BJ, most likely will be driving with bike to some location before using the bike.

some interesting routes in BJ for reference:
