scary.
i see older people likes to chiong fast fast, be it running, jogging or walking in a groups.
why? probably to show off or want to let people know he/she can do it.
but he or she is playing with his/her life.

Thats why my age, i dare not chiong.
I just maintain my pace and if i can catch up with the rest, its bonus.
it not, so be it.
Nothing to be ashamed of.
but alias, ego rule their head.

The issue is that my zone 2 running is 5.00 pace for first 3km, i dont surpass 130 even on warmer mornings/evenings. And i walk also 6.30 pace zone 2 for first 2km.
Can't be ask me do zone 0 is useless also.

Im not fast. Some others zone 2 at low 4.00 pace.

There's still a chance that you will died even so.

Actually I had heard of people doing yearly checkups but still mati.

That's why I don't think we can really control our lifespan.

Healthy doesn't mean you will live longer.

People asking to stop smoking as it's bad to your lungs but then it also doesn't mean that they will died young.

Life's fated.

Yes there will still be a chance. The point is to lessen that chance....that's the point. Survival rates rise with regular screening also, many studies out there.

Coz when you detect any issue, then obviously you dont push it already. Some are symptomless. Just do MICT of around 2-3hrs weekly and no VO2max sessions or what.

If clean bill of health, no comorbidity then feel free to go ahead....enjoy the life the way you want it, coz that's the whole point of sports be it speed or endurance events like HM/FM or even ultras.

Need to do proper checkup (typical full body + specific cardiac screening test.....basic one starts at $400 and goes up to just under 2k) before embarking on exercise regime. After that every year check the typical $165 full body and every few years basic cardiac screen can liao.
Stress echo, CT calcium, CIMT and CTA I think are probably some tests necessary to go for at least once in your lifetime especially if you are above 40-50s.

I've gone for the first 3.

BTW, 1 thing.......it's not intensty/HR that is the sole stressor.

You go google FMs and ultra distances.

Yes......just do the tests. Starts from $400. If too expensive then can check out JB or Melaka. BKK also can.

For lchlch, even lower intensity walking but for really long distances can screw up with dehydration, risks go up over such long durations and warmer weathers. But dont let that stop you. Just be in touch with your body, if possible monitor HR as well, the cardiac drift can be bad and can suddenly turn worse without you knowing.
(watches can be set with warning limits eg 150.....if you are just walking for very long and it surpasses 150 i think safer to take 5 chillax first)

Coz i see some of you slow jog/walk also can be 150-160bpms. Goes without saying that alone is a notable stressor.

That's also the main reason why i go gun so -called TTs, i use active cooling towel/ice slushies multiple times coz i loop. Even for 5k. Wont eliminate the risks but it can reduce.

Won’t suddenly just out of nowhere you all get cardiac arrest lar. You will probably feel fatigued and chest getting tighter first. When I ran hard and I was in zone 4 HR there were moments I felt my chest getting tighter, I would then slow down my pace or break into recovery pace to bring down my exertion level.

That's why you must listened to your body.

But then when time is really up, there's also nothing you can do.

So just enjoy your life.

Just like that time when I fell from the cliff.

Actually I was thinking is there anything I still haven't done yet. I thought my time was up because I can feel it but then :s22:

BTW for the first one....better to go do the stress tests also if not done it, be it medically induced (some older folks might not respond well to treadmill....due to balance issues or just cannot do treadmill). Or treadmill of coz.
I've done it 2X liao. My mum medically induced one. Some things only turn up during stress conditions.

You're different coz you are aiming for progress each time you train.

Hobbyist runners like me not so particular, even if run slow I just take it chill and destress session.

You are still fast compared to most hobbbyist runners. I mean I understand for myself that very hard to achieve semi professional standard for running unless had prior background in running during schooling days or a lot of time to train.

I after vaccination, walked up the hill and after that blackout fell down from the cliff and saved by the tree and I think it's all fated that I shifted to sit on the bench where luckily there's a tree 2 meters behind me
you are lucky bro.
just suddenly black out without warning?

Yes to this. The very least we for hobby do is google / youtube for knowledge.......i think even if the knowledge is not totally applicable directly in our cases, it still helps. With this knowledge we play around with things. Eg we know that majority needs to be easy, recovery is ultra impt, sessions/mileage needs to be gradually ramped up, temperature affects cardiac drift etc.

Some people just starting out might be tempted to do their sessions at too high an intensity for their level of fitness. ie the "no pain no gain" thing. Heck even some exercising for long dont monitor, eg my colleagues in office, even those middle age to those in 60s. They just basic basic can liao, not saying there is anything wrong with that of coz.

Side story on the last part - maybe staying active helps, been active in another outdoor hobby that is physical, is non-exercise tho......but still the physical activity does bump up the HR. But that's about it, that's since 2015? Then 2020 mcovid came and after p2 we whacked walking (for me is racewalk) and dabbled in SIT coz i didnt want my kid to grow fat and SIT is supposedly time efficient. But one side thing that may or may not be contributory is that genetically i cannot really grow fat unless if i really go crazy on food, my father same super lean......think i got this from him one.

Nothing much just diet and exercise. He bought a Novablast 3.
But recently he cancelled his gym though.......been 1 year already.

As for medical side, just take medication and monitor, if not much use then do procedure.
It's good that he didn't reach the stage to require surgery, or even stenting. I read that even with stenting, the risk of future heart related disease is not reduced, it just take care the current symptoms.
