Interesting fruit of thought, this year US olympic marathon trials youngest applicant was 22, Ava Nuttall. At 12, that is seriously scary
https://worldathletics.org/athletes/united-states/ava-nuttall-14972783 >> 2.35
Her 5k >> 16.15 minute
But here comes the crazy part, Elizabeth Leachman. >> https://worldathletics.org/athletes/united-states/elizabeth-leachman-15126002
Legend, 16 y.o., 15.25 minute 5k. Qualified for olympic trials 5km.
So, for Evan to come close, she needs to cut another 1 min 30 sec off her 5km in the next 4 years.
Probably achieve something like 1hr 16 min HM too.
While juggling studies in the process, not easy.
Also her training is more geared towards long distance sustain rather than fast twitch burst.
Jakob is 12.48, could be faster than that now especially after breaking the 3k WR.I just digged a bit more, wow both these fellas have a 13:2x 5k road timing.
Like Jakob Ingrebrigtsen is a 13:1x runner, for quick ref......but of coz he is not known for his 5k but still very quick nevertheless (world best few dozens of them is sub 13 PR i think). But just as a quick reference to put things into better perspective.
I believe shd be very similar story for the 10k
I think 10k fitness matters when you're tired in a triathlon since it's longer.
