My first 8km run after resting for 1.5 years from knee injury. Damn sad. Wanted to run 14km but the side stitch kicks in.

I remember you in 2023 early. I think didnt slide too much lah.
You did crosstraining? A bit impossible to run 7 min pace and 8 whole km with 1.5 years of non running. 🤣 Srsly i think completing 5k without any time measurement is already an achievement in itself.

But btw, for you and others, please dont gun 8k much less 14k like this. Start with 2k first and slowly ramp up like 3-5% every week weekly mileage. After like 1 month, can maybe try 10% increase in weekly, shd be generally ok for most folks. Put in some slight strength training, the beginner gains are powerful. If not literally confirm you'd hurt any of the 3 tendons (you know what they are lah, no need to introduce) by next month.

Wow. Thanks. I’m hoping to get my stamina back slowly. Been doing short distance like 2.4 to 4km. Although I didn’t manage to get my 2.4 idea timing but I still decided to do 14km today but failed. Have to stop at 8. Now thinking how to train up.

This one strongly agree . After a super long break, don't do extreme distance like this.
Gradual progressive overloading is key to injury prevention. Even for season runners, also can kenna injury from aggressive overloading.

I will sub 5km per session for at 3 weeks. And better to do daily, yes daily, smaller steps than bigger mileage and rest two days.

I remember that time when i started racewalking, i had very slight PF pain, in which i took arcoxia 60mg for 1 day to combat it, next day quite ok already. Then the day after i re-started the walking.
I kena this twice, that time was right after COVID ** P1. In fact the mileage that time was just 2-3k, but i was walking daily, and i didnt pay much to the speed (usually quite fast/intense also, considered as Z3/Z4 workouts, didnt know nothing about Z2). Aka training error(s). IIRC first few weeks didnt kena, but rest assured, it'd come sooner or later.

So yes, walking also can kena and even at low mileage......it's just another form of exercise that loads the muscles/skeletal/tendon systems. See which one micro-pecah first, usually is the tendons, but possible with muscles or bones as well.

What the, SPF policeman fell down when running.
Not sure if it's coz of the shoes or what....or maybe tripped while on the grass/soft ground.

Watched the vid several times, ouch that is painful, hope he didnt sustain injury to the kneecap. High adrenaline that time wont feel the pain/injury one.

Went gardens by the bay this morning. Too crowded to run. Gave up despite my aim was 3-4km. The heat and crowd overtook me.

when the sun is shining, I can't run too. Always wait till the sun set, and like vampire then we come out.

I used to be able to run regardless of weather. Ever ran in the rain also. Heat also. The 1.5 years break really torn me apart.

Keep it up! 👍

Today weather super hot and humid. Very tough to exercise.

I'm opposite. Yesterday 5pm+ was very sunny and hot. Had to slow down but felt great after run.

If cool and humid, I suffer badly. 😄

Heat I cannot take it. I avoid at all cost. But rain is one of my favorite moment to do long run. But not the torrential type. Medium is alright. Very cooling.
