Didn't expect the race to be so crowded. A lot of people blocking in the center and using handphone which was abit disappointing... but guess that is a given since I am running so slow lol

Regarding the distance, it was more accurate on my end. I crossed the finishing line with 22.2km. I guess that's from all of the weaving in and out when overtaking people :s13:

Srsly dont know why folks would be using mobile phones and blocking in the center (or even on the RHS) in any big non-themed races ...but such is life.
In AHM 2023 someone just stepped out (diagonally) unpredictably / without looking and i had to jam brake hard (somemore i was running 4 min pace flat), after that pain liao.

See if you guys are interested in a proper race without all the funny stuff. Check out T100 ba.
Solid proper racing etiquette and no crowded at all, you are released slowly line by line even within the same "pen" (age group), i thought i'd never see such things in SG. lol.
Only issue is, need to know how to bike.

Wow that must have been a shitty situation. I already feel abit pek cek at 7 min pace.. cannot imagine that happening at 4 min pace.

Wah my running already so bad liao. Cannot bike lah hahahaha

Finished with 2:39:00, 9 minutes off target, but happy to have finished the half marathon. I walked abit and started doing run-walk after halfway mark as my HR was near maximum (201).. I couldn't sustain it for long.

1st HM in the calendar year, so many would wanna join to clock their PBs.

That aside, my splits are as follows:
BqY93Fk.jpeg

The past 5 months I did mostly 10Ks, 3x a week, and only did 2 14Ks in Apr, so it shows. More importantly, I started feeling really dull around the 15K mark and finally took water from station but didn't feel better, so I knew it wasn't a hydration issue.

I only proceeded to take gel at 17K, took water again at 18K (holy crap, having gel stuck in my throat for a kilometer felt like hell), then felt like I could bounce back properly. The effect was almost instant, the dullness kinda faded away. Once again, this shows in the splits.

I already took a bowl of cereal with banana at 2am and thought that should keep me sufficiently fueled, but obviously it wasn't so. I really can't eat that much at such a weird timing, so need some input on how I could fuel up better. I would preferably want to get fueling done before whole HM, so what, I gotta do something like another breakfast bar about half hour before a HM? Still don't quite like the feeling of having to take a gel mid-run.

I think for the next HM, if I could solve this fueling issue, then would stand a chance to to bring timing below 2hr.

2xu is so poorly organised. Roads are narrow. Water stations are badly manned. Many runners forego water coz the staffs are unable to top up on time.

Forging aid stations just a recipe for disaster for SG weather......esp for the inexperienced athletes running faster etc. Usually wont die of coz, but can still mean a medical trip.

I can’t. The way I motivate myself to run is by timing. My 5km used to be 25-28min. I need to train my stamina back.

That is the mentality man. And 5km is a decently long distance but that you still can run fast, plus easier to recover from. (esp for the older folks......older than age 50 )

Weather not very cooling tbh. Very very humid. Perspiring a lot throughout the run

I on the bike (more cooling wind speeds vs energy enpenditure) also perspiring a fair bit this morning. These days i put fully iced 600ml bottle under my cycling jersey. heh.....then drink along the way as it melts under my body heat. I hate warmth one.

During intervals/threshold rides i will place another 2 x 250ml fully frozen season iced lemon tea at my back jersey pockets as well..... (eg tomorrow night). Still will get melted in no time. Still tahanable, esp need this with the TT helmets coz less ventilation design.

No ice and lagi no water, i really dont know how to race one.

Honestly, timing is what keeps me going. Same for the chin up. Used to be able to pull 12 after my run at the age of 40. Now 6-8 only.
