You frequently do HM distance in the stadium. Do take some time for, warm up or cool down, to do clockwise to rebalance. Left leg covers much lesser distance than your right leg for your volume on the stadium. Can do it outside the track or lanes for etiquette.
Yes ..one of the runners who like to do HM at the stadium. Anyone did the same ? 😂

Actually My right leg is my master leg. It is more muscular and wider foot as I used to play football when I was a teenager. But when I run in stadium..I never feel my right foot is using more..

It is quite hard for me to run clockwise direction in stadium coz there are many walker and runner plus cyclists on the track . Will try to run at park or elsewhere more offen.

My last attempted run was in 05 Sept where I couldn't even run 1km after having hip bursitis or gluteus tendonitis issue ..already seen physiotherapist and recommended some strengthening exercises to my hip and butt. Now I slowly resume my run..every run increase 1km and did a 11km last night..I am so happy that I can start to resume my run . Although I had sign up FM SCMS 2025. I feel it is too late and too rush for it. Definitely have to give it a miss this time

I think in term of loading and stress, the left leg should be taking more load during the turn of the track. I looked at my Takumi Sen 9 that I used exclusively for track workout only, the lateral side of my left shoe is worn off significantly compare to the right shoes. The imbalance is very obvious of a low track volume like mine. Even though the distance cover by the left is shorter. Your regular track work out at HM distance lagi more imbalance.

Howcome your stadium got cyclist? When you said your stadium no one bothers, really is no one bother.

Can go Jurong lake to run, great place if you have been running at pioneer track. Maybe do shorter runs on track and long runs outside.

Jurong west stadium got 2 tracks. Running track and cyclist track. Sometime if there is a rugby game or football match..they will close the running track and all the users have to share on outer cyclist track..so there are walker, jogger and cyclists all clustered together.

Cyclists cannot go into running track but jogger/walker can go into cyclist track.

Personally I like to run on cyclist track because I find the runner track is too soft as I don't get the energy return and response from my shoe (audios pro 3 / superblast)

Enforcement is sometime futile.

Story :

Some months ago whild doing my laps, i saw a fella setting up camera / tripod at BEG Bay East Garden, then the usual GBTB/Bay East security buggy cart stopped by that area and asked the fella to remove. It's like the same thing as MB rooftop, cannot set up tripods at the lawn (other than ball games, tentages, stools not even foldable bikes can park there). So no picnics / group gatherings along the cycling path (you'd be surprised, personally i told 1 group of girls to move off from the track coz 5-6 of them sitting on the track in a circle)

The fella obliged but later re-setup the tripod after the buggy left.

Few rounds later i think the setup got hit, didnt see it but i saw the tripod/cam on the side bench there like smashed.....possibly the tripod legs got 勾到 or something.

So far that area, i have personally seen 3 SCDF ambulance cases before.

@rarenick

High reps for you sir

Very motivated, unfortunately my age, the recovery rate ...... :frown:

But good idea, will try out full ROM, then partials, then isometrics, and maybe i shall drop in negatives.
3 - 5 seconds rest to clear lactate before dropping.

Definied as 1 working set. Then FO and recover for next 72-96 hours.

We may have met before haha. I go to Pioneer track once a week for my intervals

Personally I prefer the running track just so that I know I am doing the 400m right. The cyclist track, not sure which mode to use lol. Road or track. The frequency of Jurong west stadium closing their running track is high. I got to check their weekly schedule and plan accordingly. Few times go down there, then realised the stadium is closed.

Scary self-torture.

Do everything in moderation. We exercise so that we can live better. Push too hard we become worse.

Probably we have meet before..
Anyway I have seen at least 3 other good runner who ran long distance at the stadium. Obviously His pace is under 5 mins/km pace.

I got follow active sg jurong West FB page. So I could see the schedule on the stadium availability for the public

No worries i will, i dont do till that kinda stage. And even for running.....for eg the day before, i felt too warm during the fast session i automatically cut already.

Actually it's wierd. I do feel the same as what some others mentioned, my joints esp the wrists nowadays feel better with the lower volume. Last time i used to be training different/opposing muscles, eg biceps/quads one day triceps/hamstrings the other, 6 times a week (Sat or Sun rest)......

The progress like number of reps shd have improved but i cant say coz i havent really tested number of unweighted reps but the weighted reps i noticed got progress, but main thing is i noticed quite noticeable improved striations (ie better muscular definition) here and there.

Or perhaps also due to other things, esp coz for recovery i have again implemented strict sleep routine and hygiene. As in bare minimum even if sleep late, i'd make sure i wake up later the next morning, by doing things like sleeping alone, using eye mask and ear plugs, set AC to 1 deg cooler, hoot 3mg melatonin etc. 7-7.5hrs is just nice for me, doable. Also one other thing past few weeks i have changed is that i have made post recovery workout meals mandatory.......

Also noticed improvement in cycling, which i insert 1 additional total rest day, this also means duration/volume decrease. But i think got improvement, or maybe this does mean that i have been overtraining a bit for cycling. Or more technically accurate is under-recovery rather than true overtraining.

Also, still considering if TRT is good for our age. Not sure if can improve running, but cycling high chance can.
And of coz for strength/muscles. Of coz, must test first.....but very high chance is. I go pornhxb quite rare liao. :frown: Sigh.
Motivation and good structured training can only do that much.....you cant cheat nature in absolute high performance sports .

At first glance it seems to be harmful esp if you ask any regular guy on the street heck you ask any recreational exerciser also same answer i think, but it is not.

Main issue is cost, as usual for me. :frown: :frown:

Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) costs in Singapore vary by clinic and treatment type, with injections around SGD 381.50 per injection and gels costing approximately SGD 196.20 per box. Additional costs include initial and follow-up consultations, and diagnostic blood tests for testosterone levels, which can range from around SGD 40 to SGD 50.

https://www.todayonline.com/daily-focus/more-men-seeking-help-problems-related-low-testosterone

SINGAPORE — Persistent fatigue and an inability to perform in bed spurred 58-year-old Patrick Tan (not his real name) to seek medical attention. Aged 47 at the time, he felt he was too young to experience these bothersome symptoms, which he initially thought were side effects from previous surgeries to treat an overactive bladder.

“Having erectile dysfunction affected me psychologically. But it was the constant lack of energy and drowsiness that was very disturbing because I used to have a lot of drive at work,” said the managing director working in the electronics industry, who is married with two adult sons.

Blood tests revealed the symptoms were due to lower-than-normal levels of testosterone.

Mr Tan has since gone on testosterone replacement therapy to restore the dwindling male sex hormone.

Instead of dismissing low testosterone symptoms as part of normal ageing, an increasing number of men have come forward to seek help for what used to be a hush-hush condition, doctors told TODAY.

More are also enquiring about testosterone replacement therapy, which is usually administered through injections, oral doses or gels applied over the shoulder or abdomen.

It is estimated that about one in four men aged 45 and above in Singapore suffers from some form of testosterone deficiency, according to Professor Peter Lim, a urologist at Gleneagles Hospital, who said therapy costs an average of S$150 a month.

Prof Lim, who is also founder of the Society for Men’s Health Singapore, currently sees at least 40 patients on testosterone replacement therapy each month — a figure that he estimated is four to five times higher than it was a decade ago.

“The level of health education in Singapore is very high. These days, men are more open about discussing sex, and seem more concerned about their sexual health and male ageing,” he said.

Age management specialist Julinda Lee from the Singapore Medical Group has noted an increase of about 20 per cent in the number of male patients with symptoms seeing a doctor and enquiring about treatment in the last five years.

Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s (TTSH) urology department has observed a similar increase.

Dr Lee said the men are typically in their late 50s to 60s and are married or have a partner. But the doctors also see a small proportion of men under the age of 40 as well as those above the age of 90.

“One 91-year-old patient came into the office complaining that ‘everything is useless and nothing works’. Once we replaced the testosterone, he was up and running. In younger men, the cause is likely to be due to cancer, infection or trauma to the testes,” said Prof Lim.

NOT JUST A SEX HORMONE

More than just a sex hormone, testosterone is essential in men’s overall health, including the maintenance of muscle strength and mass, healthy energy levels, good sleep, bone health and even mental agility.

In the natural course of ageing, testosterone levels gradually decline over time; it has been reported that the hormone decreases by 0.4 to 2 per cent each year after the age of 40, said Dr Ronny Tan, consultant and director of andrology in the Department of Urology at TTSH.

Factors such as chronic conditions like diabetes, as well as stress and a sedentary lifestyle, can also speed up the process, added Prof Lim.

Common symptoms include erectile dysfunction, loss of morning erections, lower sex drive and energy levels, said Dr Tan.

But many patients who are testosterone-deficient also tend to display classic physical signs such as “flabby” muscle tone and a paunch, due to increased fat around the waist, said Prof Lim.

In extreme cases, the severe loss of muscle mass can affect quality of life.

“My oldest patient, who is 95, came to me when he was 85 with an unusual complaint of pain at his tail bone which turned out to be related to the wasting of buttock muscles, commonly seen in low-testosterone patients,” said Dr Lee.

“The pain disappeared after he went on replacement therapy and an appropriate exercise programme to help him build muscle mass.”

Low testosterone is linked to a host of health conditions including osteoporosis, heart disease, diabetes, dementia and lower life expectancy.

By replacing testosterone to normal levels, the men do show improvements in their health with respect to blood pressure control, sugar control and lower risk of heart diseases, said TTSH’s Dr Tan.

One of the most significant differences Mr Tan experienced after supplementing the male hormone — in the form of injections administered every three months — was renewed vigour.

“I’m a lot more energetic now and I don’t think I will be stopping the treatment anytime soon,” he said.

Still, there are possible risks associated with the therapy.

For example, it can cause fertility issues by reducing sperm count and size of the testes, affecting younger patients who have not completed their family planning, warned Dr Lee.

Men who have a history of cardiovascular disease (heart disease or stroke), prostate problems, sleep apnoea or cancer should also be particularly careful about starting the therapy, she added.

Testosterone replacement therapy should be administered by trained medical professionals, and patients must also undergo regular follow-ups and blood tests to monitor potential side effects.

When used appropriately, the treatment can benefit men who are genuinely testosterone-deficient but it should not be used as a preventive measure against ageing concerns. The treatment is not an “elixir of youth”, said TTSH’s Dr Tan.

Said Prof Lim: “Some men come into the clinic asking for testosterone to make them look beefier or to enhance their sports performance. If their testosterone levels are normal, why would they need treatment? That’s bad medicine.”
